Problem with All in One SEO
Anyone else had trouble with All in One SEO?
Hi everyone
When I was first setting up my website (about a month ago!) I had a what seemed a very strange problem.
The problem was that instead of the tab on my post displaying the name of the post, it showed as
%page-title/post-title%
Of course, I immediately put in a question asking for help, and of course I got a number of helpful suggestions, but none of those suggested solutions worked.
Then Marion Black contacted me. Marion is an absolute wiz with everything to do with Wordpress, and I am so grateful to her.
Marion worked very patiently with me until we found the
After checking everything else, Marion discovered that the problem was with one of my plugins.
She told me to deactivate all my plugins, and then reactivate them one by one until I found the culprit. When I had done that, I could see to proper post title in the tab.
The first one I reactivated was All in One SEO - I was practically certain that that would not the the culprit.
But it was! The post title reverted to the way it had been before.
Marion then suggested that I use Yoast SEO instead, so I did. I went to the new plugins page, searched for Yoast SEO and uploaded it.
When I had activated it, I was given to option to transfer my SEO settings from All in One to Yoast, which I did, and then I deleted All in One SEO.
I find Yoast is much better in every way than All in One SEO.
Problem Solved
I thought that this had been a problem unique to me, but yesterday I found a question on Affiliate Bootcamp from someone else who had the very same problem, and with my help he found that All in One SEO was the culprit again!
So I thought I would share this with everyone in case anyone else, particularly if they are just starting their website, is having the same problem.
I would be really interested to know how widespread this problem is.
And I would again like to say a big
to Marion, who is always ready to offer help.
I do hope that some of you will find this post helpful, and many thanks for reading this.
Have a great Monday everyone :)

Thanks for sharing Chrissie. I am still with All in one without any problems but I hear a lot about the benefits of Yoast. I didn't know it was that easy to set up.
The fact that you transferd the settings and the problem did not go with it probably meant that you had it set up right.
Some things are not supposed to be under stoo.

Standard procedure for people in it. And Marion in my opinion is the most helpful person in WA.
Hi Chrissie. I saw this at the top of someone's website the other day in the title tab and immediately thought there was a problem with the seo set up. I remembered seeing in All in One Seo how it would automatically grab info off the page to feed into these tabs. Maybe there is a way to turn off the auto grab of info and manually insert the meta data for headlines, descriptions and such. I thought that was recommended practice anyway as you can control much more precisely what goes in each section.
Of course, Yoast is probably another solution, but then why did WA change from Yoast to All in One SEO?
I was just thinking that too! If the the problem you had is a common one and it was resolved by switching to Yoast then I wouldn't be surprised if they do.
