Hi Everyone

Today was a perfect Spring day, warm and sunny, far too lovely to stop indoors!

So I decided to take a break and go for a walk in my favourite wood in the hope that my very favourite wild flower, the bluebell, was still in bloom!

I was just about in time! They were just a little bit past their best, but still very beautiful to loook at.

I really love Bluebells - the deep blue, almost purplish (if that's a word!) delicate, almost shy bell-shaped flowers that for me typify the best of Springtime.

They grow best beneath woodland trees in partial shade, usually from late April until early to mid May in my part of the world.

Bluebells for me are truly a feast for my eyes, and food for my soul! I have a real need to see them every Spring, and if there is one year that I miss them, I feel a real deprivation.

I remember their beauty on dark winter days. As the poet William Wordsworh says:

"They flash upon that inward eye that is the bliss of solitude...."

And having seen that beautiful blue carpet of flowers, I feel inspired, and refreshed to face the world again.

So if you are frustrated or find yourself feeling a little bit "stale", just give yourself a break and go out and find some of the beauties of Nature in your area. Even in the midst of towns or cities you can always find some beautiful thing. If you don't believe me, the close-up photo of the bluebells was taken last week very close to the centre of London!

Remember that it is so very important to feed your soul as well as your body in order to better cope with your everyday life.

So I wish you all a great, positive and productive day filled not only with work, but with the beauty and inspiration of the natural world :)

That´s very important Chrissie, and I know how much I miss it when i came back to Slovenia to a really beautiful place after a few months away at work, Best Alan

Yes I agree. it really is important Alan :)

Lovely post Chrissie, have a good clump of Blubells in my garden, here in the Midlands they still look superb, grown in shade facing North.

That sounds really lovely Edwin, thank you for your comment :)

I couldn't agree more, Chrissie!

I think being able to live near a park really helps me to maintain my sanity! I'm fortunate enough to live a 10-minute walk away from the 2nd largest park in New York City!

So glad you were able to take time to refresh and rejuvenate your spirit, Chrissie!

Thank you so much Veronica.
It is really good that you live near a park :)

I love going for a walk along the seafront and getting the taste of the salt in the air

What a great post this is, and while enjoying the beauties of nature, it's also good for the creative flow as well

Absolutely Dave :)

You are so right, Chrissie, you should always spare a few minutes to relax and enjoy nature. It can really recharge your batteries. The bluebells still look lovely at the moment and the vibrant yellow of the rapeseed fields can give you quite a boost of energy. All great food for the soul.

Yes the rapeseed cclour is lovely too Beate. Are you in the UK too?
Many thanks for your comment :)

Yes, Chrissie, here too.

I do so agree Robert :)

Sometimes, we have to stop and enjoy all the natural beauty around us. Thank you so much for sharing your walk in the woods!
