What A Cracking Day Today

It has been an absolutely beautiful day here in Scotland albeit rather hot which we are not at all used to but will glady accept regardless.

I had to work this morning 8am to 12 noon and on the way down to work the temperature at 7.30 am was already 19 degrees. When I went into work the air conditioning was on so the shop was a nice temperature. Wasn't I in for a surprise when I finished then as it was like walking into an oven whenever I walked outside.

Needless to say then that my afternoon was spent sitting outside in the sunshine. Changed into a pair of shorts and a vest top, suntan lotion on and then my daughter and I sat outside and chatted. We did at one point have to give up and come indoors as it was too hot.

Our temperature all day was between 27 and 30 degrees. Now I know that there will be people within WA who have had higher temperatures but for Scotland this is high. We were hotter than some countries abroad like Tenerife and parts of the USA.

It is not very often we get the chance but because it was so nice, we decided on a Bar-b-cue. It was nice being able to sit and eat outside as well as cooking outside as most of the time we bar-b-cue, we then have to eat inside as it is too cold to sit outside.

We are hearing that this great weather is to carry on into next week. This will be great as it is the start of the summer holidays for the schools as well as a lot of parents too. Will be nice to see the sun shining for a change because normally when the holidays start the weather is normally is miserable or it turns miserable.

I am certainly hoping that tomorrow will again be a lovely sunny day although not quite as hot as today.

Once again we are at the end of a week as well as almost at the end of yet another month. I hope everyone is finding everything going well for them just now. Have a great Friday and

Glad to hear you are enjoying the warmer temps cheryl. In my part of the world we are enjoying a viral video about the Scottish farmer who is struggling with 15 degree temperatures. Have you seen the one i am talking about? It goes my truck has broken down and i have to walk, if i dont make it back alive tell my sister there is food in the fridge etc etc. Hes soooooo defeated by 15 degree temperatures. Its actually very funny to watch.

Hello Glenys

Thank you, yes it is nice to get good weather at this time of year as we had such a long winter.

I haven't seen the video you are on about but I will look for it and see if I can get it. Was it on You Tube?

Hope you are having a great weekend and the sun is shining for you. xxx

Good Morning Cheryl,

Here the weather has been the same as you have in Scotland. If it stays around 30C it is ok but in the south, it can easily get hotter especially inland like Sevilla, Cordoba, and Granada. The Malaga area is known for a milder climate. Winters go from 6 to 20 and summers from 20 to 30, not bad. We discovered a big crack in the fishpond, that is why the water level would go down so rapidly after filling it up. Then the total house and garden walls are being whitewashed, a big job. There you can see never a dull moment.
Wishing you a happy summer with a lot of barbeques.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Good morning Taetske, pleased to see that you are getting the good weather too. Yesterday was rather hot but nice too.

Have you managed to fix the fishpond yet and it sounds like you are going to be mega busy with all your whitewashing too. You never have dull moments anyway lol.

I know, I like to have bar-b-cues when you are able to sit outside to eat as well.

Have a great weekend Taetske. xxxx

I'm a little envious of your heat. We are in winter. Its 6.30pm and we are at 5 degrees and going down.
Anyway all is well. Training to be done. Articles to write etc
Love being a part of WA :)
Enjoy your day.

Di :)

Awwww Di, just what you don't need and then to have people telling you that the weather is beautiful elsewhere. Stay cosy and warm and enjoy your training and article writing. xxx

When you say your temperature is 19 degrees, it conjures up images of snowstorms and bitter cold weather. I assume you are using a Celcius thermometer, and we use Fahrenheit. If I remember my science classes correctly, that means that water boils at 100 degrees and freezes at zero as opposed to our measure of 212 degrees Fahrenheit for boiling and 32 for freezing. Strange that the 2 systems both exist and are still in use. Seems like your way would be simpler.

Enjoy your Ba- B-Q! Glad you'll be able to eat it outside.

Hi Carol,

Yes it is a celcius and not Fahrenheit lol. 19 degrees celcius in Scotland is hot, definitely not snowstorms and bitter weather of any sort lol.

We roughly work out celcius to Fahrenheit by taking the number, doubling it and adding 30 which is a near enough figure.

The bar-b-cue was great thank you. xxx

So your 19 degrees would be about 68 here. Just about perfect for any outdoor activity! Hope the rest of your weekend is that nice.

I'm singing for a different church tomorrow. The minister is a friend of mine and asked me to sing for their "homecoming", which seems to be a southern tradition. People who have moved away or joined other churches return to attend church and a potluck dinner afterwards. Should be fun.

That's right Carol but that's what it was at 7.30 am and it got hotter and hotter, it was 31 at it's hottest. The weekend has been lovely but not quite as hot thankfully. Today is really warm though.

That's good Carol and that is an honour for you. Have a great time and enjoy yourself. xxx

Thanks, Cheryl. I did enjoy meeting new people and attending their church service and singing for them. The minister's sons and 2 of his grandkids sang and played guitars, fiddle, and banjo as well. I didn't stay for lunch because I had a lot to do today, and the service was about 2 and a half hours long. Carol

Glad you enjoyed the time you had with them and singing for them Carol. Sometimes these things happen though but I don't think they probably would have bothered that you didn't stay for lunch. The main thing is they asked you to go along and sing and you did that. xxx

Yes, I did enjoy it, but probably won't be attending there again unless I'm asked to sing again. The service is just too different from what I'm used to. But that's OK. We're fortunate to have freedom of religion in this country!

Hello Cheryl,

I'm sure that these types of temperatures for Scotland must be quite a shock to the system! I live in East Anglia and I can't remember such good weather ever and it all started in April! My wife comes from Greece and they have actually had more rain there than we have here, amazing!

Thank you for your blog post and enjoy your weekend.

Roy

Hi Roy, you are welcome and I would agree that Thursday was exceptionally hot but yesterday and today have been more bearable thankfully. Has it been as warm beside you as well.

I think the weather is all mixed up now and you never know what you are going to get.

I will do and you too, enjoy your weekend. xxx

Glad you liked the picture from my book's cover!
Colin

You are very welcome Colin. What image is it and what is your book? xxx

Thanks for sharing Cheryl.

You're very welcome thank you.

Hope you are having a great weekend. xxxx

In Fiji just journeying into Winter but really can't tell the weather because of climate change impact

Hi Taniela, I hope your winter isn't a bad one. You are right though, it is hard to tell nowadays what the weather is going to be like.

My mum and dad visited Fiji the last time they were coming back from Australia. xxx

Crackling. I like that Cheryl!

Not crackling Mike, cracking which in Scotland means beautiful lol. You can make it crackling if you want to though. xxx

Lol. Love it Cheryl!

We love haggis! Wonder if it could be shaped into burgers and BBQ'd? We would eat it!
Stay cool up there. Glad to hear you are wearing your sunscreen. UK is going through a major heatwave.
Enjoy the sun, Cheryl!

We can buy haggis that has already been cut into slices that you could maybe bar-b-cue but not sure once it's hot if it would fall to pieces. Try having haggis and cheese on a toastie it is amazing.

One thing we definitely do need is the sunscreen just now. Weather has been amazing and long may it continue to be.

I will do and thanks Collette and Philip.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. xxx

Haggis and cheese toastie sounds incredible!
Can't get haggis down here in Ecuador but will try some day.
Stay cool!

Thanks and I will certainly do my best.

You should go online and see if you can't get Grants haggis which comes in a tin and it's really nice and great to just heat up in a pot. xxx

You are so sweet, thanks! Will keep an eye out.

You are very welcome thank you. xxx
