does anyone have advice on how to set up an e-newsletter on my website? I have tried using "Mailchimp" and intergrating my account to my site using "autochimp" plugin #failed...

see you have had some good advice hope it all works out

both the plug in (from what I have read, not done) and Aweber will work, however you can't change absorb your WP subscribers across to AW if you subsequently decide to change management options..
If you intend to "sell" to your list, then you are better going for AW from the off. If you want a softer sell and to then direct them to a sign up of a more serious intent then you could bolt AW on.

Oh dammit, why don't I just come out and say it- AW from the off why faff around.

lol...thanks nomda. I have done a little research on AW and it looks like i found a winner. As i said, any good investment is worth investing in :)

I see you have received your answer--GREAT !!!

If you can get Aweber, but if not there is a free plugin called "newsletter" that should do the job.

Fyi, if you have affiliate products on your site you can't use Mailchimp (it's against their TOS)

Hi Charlotte,

Same here. Still setting up my site. You are ahead of the game.

John

I use aweber.com. Not free but everyone (ie. Kyle and Carson :) seems to say that it's worth the investment. Only $19/month.

can i integrate that onto my site?...a good investment is always worth a few bucks!!!

Not sure what your question is, but...

I use it for my email opt-in and for blog updates, etc...

ok. Thanks Stephanie

I am nowhere near where you are so far. If I had the answer to help you out on this I would, my experience is in web design, not email marketing. I am learning every day.

I will wait until you set yours up Charlotte then I can do what you did :)

lol...ok Mr. Jake. Im on it :)

Not doing anything like that but will be following the discussion to learn, thanks for trailblazing. :)

I hope I don't offend anyone with this.

For my next niche, I want to promote WA for online business. Since I have been here, (6 weeks now) I have checked out a lot of site

I am sure there will be a way to stand out see lesmyb has given a liink to look at, wish you luck

Hey Charlotte!

I'm working on this too because I want to make a custom banner to promote WA on a website that is not about money making...

I am going to use Nathaniell's training to do that. Check it out here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/create-a-custom-logo-or-banner-with-gimp/a_aid/4825bb49

TravelHacker, that was perfect...thanks so much. Nathaniell and I have the same ideas :)

It's always good to make your own banners and be unique

Charlotte, I like your idea of creating your own banners in order to stand out. There are some good graphics people over at fiverr. Take your time, though, when choosing one.

Hope you don't mind if I do the same thing - ;-)

Not at all markvsc, but your the second person who has mentioned Fiverr, what is it, or who is it?????

If you will click on the rocket ship with 300 at the top of the page, then look to the right and click on banners, you can see what is available. I applaud you for wanting to "stand out" from the crowd. I kind of think that when Google sees too many look alike sites that it can hurt rankings. We all should strive to be a bit different. Of course you don't have to use a banner at all. You could use a picture of something relating to a person studying or building a business, and make the picture a clickable link by inserting your affiliate link. You could do this by using the editor for pages or posts and instead of publishing when done, copy the html and paste in in a text widget.
I wish you great success with this.

Teacup, that is a great idea. Thank you so much :)

At this time I am not promoting WA, so as an outsider this is my opinion. WA definitely has a limited amount of banners. This does not keep anyone from making their own, but, unless you pay for the photo, when you make your own your are apt to choose the best free photo and that is what I have seen a lot of -
My suggestion to you, if you really want to stand out, learn to make your own banners and pay for your photos, or take your own photos, or employ someone like Fiverr to do it for you.
WA has excellent basics, it is up to you to bring the level up to outstanding! Shine Charlotte!
You can go check out the banners long before you start your page!

Thanks a lot Trialynn. That was going to be my next questions. "can we make our own?"
Is Fiverr a member or a website....lol, Im cracking up laughing asking that, but i have to know :)))

Thanks for adding this as it is very important to have the rights to the photos you use. I like to take pictures myself and use my own when possible. When nothing relates I buy the rights to something online.

Sorry Charlotte, Fiverr.com is a site where you can choose from a lot of things that are done for $5.00. They offer all kinds of services, so be sure you understand what you are ordering and be as specific as you can. I have experienced nothing but good results from them, but have had a snag where I asked for a hand drawn picture and was sent a computer generated "hand drawn" picture. I was given a refund because I had requested a hand drawn picture by a human hand. I will only deal with English speaking people (or italian, because I speak the language) and prefer to keep the orders in the US, especially if it is a land delivery. You can chit chat with the person who you choose to do the work before you actually employ them to do so. Want more? PM me if I have left anything out!

@TEACUP You are so very welcome!

Great question!
