When it Rains, it Pours!

Do you ever have times in your life when you feel everything is falling apart? Kind of like the saying, "when it rains, it pours"? Right now, I'm dealing with a very sick elderly dad and my oldest son just got arrested for marijuana. In some states, as maybe some of you have heard, marijuana is now legal. In the state of Kansas, it is not. That's besides the point. There are so many people that have much worse situations than I do or am going through right now.

I would love to hear from you, how you handle difficult situations? I pray and exercise. Those two seem to help a ton. I'm just curious on what others do to help get them through difficult times

Thank you in advance!

Caryn

When it comes to me like that, I have to remember to give all these issues to the One Who can calm all storms. Praying for you, and best wishes for your success!

Very true. Thank you very much!

My Grandfather always told me that if you wanted a good garden you had to shovel a lot of manure. His meaning was that bad times somehow prepare us for the good to come.
It took him through a lot of bad times, and remembering that took me through many bad things. Hope this helps in the same way that it has helped me. Thanks Caryn.

It does help! Thank you for the kind thoughts. Very true what your grandfather said.

It's hard when it comes to your children. One of my son's got into trouble, and It was hard to deal with, but I kept repeating; This too shall pass, and it did. I will send positive thoughts your way.

Yes, I have repeated that a lot! Thank you for your kind thoughts.

Good evening Caryn,

Life is not always easy but as the saying goes, after rain comes sunshine. I have experienced that myself when I was having big legal trouble nearly ending on the street with my cats, 1 dog, and no money. There was a time I thought I would not make it but my friends kept me alive and now everything has turned for the better. Do not give up hope as good times will come for you too.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

I can't imagine what you went through. Thank you very much for the encouragement!

Caryn,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. My mother used to say that all the time.. and also trouble comes in threes. Anyway, I'm taking care of my terminally ill Mother, meanwhile my husband and I are living in two separate places. Last night he calling.. we have termites swarming in our living room.. he says there are millions.
I'm hoping that is the three.. don't need anything else to happen.
As for what I do.. I work here .. and yes, I do some writing as well.
Kathi

I know what you mean! I am so sorry are having problems too. I will say a prayer for you. Hang in there my friend. I am here if you need to talk.
Caryn

Thank you.. All prayers and support is appreciated!

Hi Caryn,
I'm sorry to hear about your struggles. I can totally relate. I cared for my mother-in-law who had lung cancer until she passed, and my son was also arrested. The way I dealt with these struggles was lots of prayer and some good cries. I also surrounded myself with friends and family. Mom was on hospice care, so I also had the nurses and volunteers to talk to. I find that having someone to talk to who understands the pain and the struggle helps a lot.
Kathy

Thank you. I have prayed and cried too. My dad will probably be on hospice soon. Good advice on talking to someone!
Thank you again!

Sorry to hear that Caryn. You just have to soldier through with spiritual guidance and the help of friends, you'll weather it!

Thank you! You are a man with wise words.
You're the best!

Hi Caryn, I've been through many trials myself. What seems to have helped me is doing my best to stay positive. A positive attitude attracts a positive outcome. And on the flip side, a negative attitude can attract a negative outcome. Believing "this too shall pass" will help a lot. We go through a lot of lessons in life...some good and some bad. This is how I've gotten through. I hope it helps in some way. All the best to you.
Sue

Hi Sue,
Thank you! Very true about staying positive. Typically, that's after I have a good cry!
Thank you,
Caryn

You're welcome, Caryn. A good cry is very cleansing and rids the mind, body and soul of a lot of unwanted energy. And, of course, talking or writing about it helps too.

In difficult times I pray to my God, read his word for guidance by his son and rely on Him to handle it. One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 41:10 where it says: Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be anxious for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will help you. I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness. Hope that helps

I pray as well. Thank you for that scripture. One of my favorites as well. I will remember your words of wisdom.
Thank you!

I have been through many difficult situations! Big ones.

You have to learn to deal with them, "it is what it is" for that time and they are temporary. It does not matter what the situation is.

Temporary.

I used to worry and stress, that was when I was in my 20's and have changed since then, long time ago.

Sorry to hear about your dad, I hope he will be ok.
Of course as moms we worry about our children at any age.

You don't want to get sick from worrying, you have to be strong, knowing it will pass.

I do try to remind myself that this too shall pass. Sometimes easier said than done. I try to tell myself not to worry, but it is hard. I have told all three of my sons there is no turn off button as a mom.
Thank you for your encouraging words.
Caryn

I know it's hard. All we can do is the best that we can.
