Throwing in the Towel

I think I've reached the point where I just can't do it any more. Ten months in and nothing is happening. Not only that, but my heart just isn't in it any more. I'm tired of spending money and tons of time for something that is going nowhere. I've lost my drive and can't seem to get it back. Anyone else been there and been able to get their mojo back? I tried taking a break and that didn't help, in fact, I'm just tired of working so hard and getting nothing in return.

I'm curious as to how often you add new posts to your websites? I have two websites and try to add three posts a week to both of them, which means six posts a week. I'm wondering if perhaps it would be better if I focused on writing one post per week for each site? In other words, focusing more on quality than quantity. What do you think?

Hi, I'm sorry to read that you are going through a VERY frustrating period in your journey. Try to think about the different motivational stories out there about how someone wanted to quite or did quite when, unbeknownst to them they were on the verge of succeeding.

Some quite - like the story of the gold miners that gave up when they were just a couple feet away from the richest gold ore vien ( I think was what it was called) ever found in the US.

Another one that comes to mind was a story by Joel Osteen who was climbing a mountain. He did not realize he was actually climbing the mountain as fast as he was. He was tired and ready to turn back. Another hiker coming down told him he was further up than he realized. Turns out that he was 10 minutes from the top. But, he had almost given up.

When you are burned out...definately focus on quality. Even though I'm trying to do multiple sites, I agree with the others. Focus on one for now. Maybe even go back through some of the early training lessons again to see if there is bits of information that you overlooked due to inexperience the first time you took the training.

Best wishes!!!

Hi personally don't push a hard schedule. I personally don't follow a tough schedule. I post when I get inspired. My niche is gaming. I just came back from the Nor'easter advanced squad leader tournament . I decompressed and will be posting about a great event for the next several weeks.
Don't give up!
Just don't work yourself so hard and take a step back.
Hang in there.

Hello Carol I feel for you and I have gotten fed up and tired of the working but here at WA we have a great community that we can ask questions and get answers and that I have found great, because I have worked at many different jobs and so many times trying to get an answer to some questions is just too much of a challenge so hang in the there.

Hi Carol, wich one of your websites have more traffic?

Wich one of your niches do you enjoy more?

The website that I liked most was the pet one, how do you pretent to monetize it?

He'll me understand a bit so I can try to help you out.
Cheers

Yes I do enjoy my pet website the most. I promote products through Share-A-Sale, Google Adsense, and Clickbank. Just follow some of the links.

Hi Carol,

When I started my idea was to write a blog about arthritis etc as that was and still is a large component of my life, dealing with pain, not being able to do what I once did etc

But that did not work, I too lost motivation. Then I started again about my upcoming (forced not planned) retirement and started doing something with that. That site is still up and running but I do not really pursue it anymore.

I took time off because of arthritis but not long after I stopped I had the desire to get back in.

Thought about it a lot, paid up for a yearly membership (much cheaper - borrowed the money to do it) and decided to setup a new site based on something I love doing a lot.

Now I am about to launch the site and I hope to make a go of it.

It is a lot of work, plan for it, focus on your plan, schedule your posts - I now do one a week for one website!

Make sure it is quality work that you post. Be as interesting as you can, plenty of pics etc and try to get back the enjoyment.

By the way this is my first post in a long long time because I did what I just said - focussed, planned, scheduled and worked out posts to do.

I check in once a day for the messages and to learn one thing.

PM me if you want.

Steve

Hi Carol, I feel for you I really do. It's tough having to learn everything and then apply it. I've just checked out your profile and it looks like you have 3 website on the go. I have one website and I find that takes up enough of my time. Why don't you focus on one website? I took this advice and ran with it and I am now starting to see results (slowly). Just a thought. It would be a shame to have put all that effort in for nothing.

Hi Carol, I am in a similar place. I have cut back on some expenses but am not sure if I want to go to square one and start again. I think WA is a great place to be but I always had a hard time focusing and completing tasks.
I hope you make the right decision as I find it hard to get motivated and have other projects going.
I see Peter J. Crisp commented and I think he would be a great mentor if you were to go that route.

Best wishes,
Marty

I;m sorry you feel that way. I've been with WA for seven months, and I haven't made any money yet. I'm still keeping my sites active and still have an interest in them. I know I'm spending $47 a month and not earning it back but it still doesn't make me want to leave WA.

Well I told myself I was going to give it a solid year, so I guess I'll try to stick to it. It just gets discouraging sometimes and that $47 a month is a lot for me.

i know what you mean about the monthly fee. it's a lot for me too, especially when I am not earning the money to recover it.

I'm sorry you feel this way, yet feelings change all the time. I would encourage you not to give up..please. For me I skinned my knees and felt that way a lot on my journey but my inner core have a burning in it. I couldn't give up if I wanted to. Think of your reason "why" what's your motivation ? What's your outcome going to look like? And think about something that your just crazy, nuts, amazed by and try to make a niche around that so you won't get bored. Yes, money can become an issue, you make it this far. Follow the course step by step, don't skip a beat. Ask sooo many questions, don't worry about who says what. You can do it...believe and you can achieve. I know you can! Please don't give up... you never know why tomorrow brings.

Peace love and Joy

There is a famous quote from Mark Twain:

"If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first."

And that just means - do your hardest task first or at least as soon as you can in the morning. If you do this then the rest of your day is easy from there!

ANYWAY…

Hello, CaJe51, before you decide to leave WA. I want you to know that YOU are definitely in the right place!

People have plenty to share and there is much to learn, which is what needs to happen before you can earn. So take your time and enjoy the experience of learning. The 'earning' part comes much later.

I may not be among the top 200 list anymore (because I don’t socialize here much) but I do have many interesting posts on my site (no seriously I do!) and some you might really like, many people do. I have over 4,000 positive comments, so take a look and get some ideas as to what you can do with your site.

Let me know if I can help you in any way

Cheers Peter :)
