Understand What Google's Core August 2023 Updates and Implications
Google's August 2023 Core Updates is the second rollout of the year. Most of us know that when Google core updates happen, they are designed to help improve search results and provide users with more relevant and trustworthy information.
But what exactly do these updates entail, and how will they impact your website?
It's important to note that Google constantly evolves its algorithm to serve its users better. The August 2023 Core Updates are the same as many updates before. They aim to identify high-quality content that meets user intent.
Its implications are:
- All regions and languages are affected by this update.
- All types of content are targeted, including websites, blogs, and images.
- Google rewards excellent websites.
You can read more details at the Search Engine Roundtable.
If we all see a drop in our traffic or search rankings after the update, reviewing your content and ensuring it is high-quality and relevant would be necessary. Please follow the Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E.E.A.T) Google Guidelines.
As I've stated in my other blog, websites with slow page load times or poor mobile optimization may impact the user experience.
I learned from Search Engine Land from Barry that it is not something we might need to fix but rather that we should check our Google Analytics for further inspection.

Great post, Brenda, and thank you for sharing some of these tips. So far, I haven't even noticed anything with Google but I will keep a close eye on it.

Hi - the general chatter among SEO gurus seem to indicate that this update focused on EEAT.
And, in particular, looking for evidence that the writer of the posts has sufficient expertise on the subject.
Checking the About Me page, looking for an Author box, looking for links to profiles on LinkedIn or social media.
I use the Simple Author Box plugin.
You can set it to appear under each post, and in the Sidebar for extra visibility!
I'm sure it is not feeble yet Brenda haha!
There is so much to do in a day and things to do for a website, that the things-to-do on the list gets way too large :-)
But I think it is important for your brand awareness, just like a little icon in front of the website when you Google it.
My website has a cute little house icon in front of it on Google and it makes it so much more credible for viewers and it catches the attention.
You learn while going along!
have you figured it out, the author box?
I can't even find where to insert a picture and Google isn't making me any wiser ahaha!
Hi - go to Users in your WordPress settings, and scroll down to see the Biographical Info.
Fill in your details, that you want to be shown.
Whatever you put there, will be added to the Author Box.
I have fixed it in the meantime, thanks again @dianescarpio . Still figuring out the colors though,as I want it to be good for screenreaders this time -)
