A Simple Solution to Organizing Your Keywords
If you do a lot of keyword research in Jaaxy, like I do, then you probably have an awefully long list[s] of keywords. The lists can get so long their nearly useless.
I've been looking at that "Export" link in there for awhile, knowing it was the solution to my problem, but, I haven't been able to take advantage of it until now. It's really simple actually, though, you do need Excel for this.
First, go through your list in Jaaxy and get the QSR for each KW. Then, you just click the CSV link under Export, select "All Data", (that way you'll get the "Search" numbers and QSR too), and "Save" the file to your computer. Open the file in Excel, then begin organizing it to your tastes, (make font bigger, etc).
Here is the part I just learned how to do, a "Custom Sort". Select all the data, I use Command + A on my Mac, I believe it's Control + A on a pc, then, click the "Data" tab at the top of the screen, click the down arrow next to "Sort", and select Custom Sort. In the box that opens up you will have the option to sort by several different ways.
I like to sort my list by "Monthly Searches", highest to lowest, then, "QSR" lowest to highest, and I save them separately. I also now have my list broken down into about 6 different categories.
Having my keyword sorted this way enables me to;
- Instantly see what my most popular keywords are.
- What my least competitive keywords are.
- Break my niche apart into categories.
This seems so basic now. I probably should have taken the time to learn it sooner, but, oh well. At least I know now. I'm pretty excited to finally have a sorted keyword list! I hope this blog helps someone else do the same.

Use the Google Drive spreadsheet. One page of 25 for each group or category, move up the good ones to the top, others down to the next page. Also enter time frame, by blog use, article, discussion. Easier to manage in one folder.
Hey Brad very nice....I am a collector of KW...so the sorting is a great tool...
Instead of using Excel You can use Open Source it's FREE...and it is great...just as good as Micro Soft in my opinion...here is the link if any of you want to give it a try http://freedownloads.us.com/lp/openoffice/suite
Great info Brad, thanks for sharing your method of keeping your keywords organized once exported from Jaaxy. I know that this will help others!
Keep in mind that you need to update the list occasionally. Keyword data gets stale.
