If you have, how did it affect rankings. Any changes?

At the moment one of my sites has a sitename that is too long, and it pushes my character limit in post title wa

It doesn't affect your rankings. The most important thing to have in your Mets title is your target keyword(s)

Have you ever removed sitename from title tags?

What issues may come with it? I have a site that's already marinated surrounding the topic I am writing about, but the thing is, I want to have a new domain name.

Will it

You can make the move but you have to do it correctly. And as Eric says, with high ranking posts, I would leave it as is.

But if you keep the old blog, copy the posts to your new blog and set up 301 redirects correctly for each post, you should be able to move and keep your Google ranking.

Once upon a time there was a guy with the name Matt Cutts...he was Google's 'go-to-guru' for many webmasters with their questions. He left about 2 years ago but left a great number of videos. Here is ONE (of a few) in regards to changing Domain Name and the effects. First, look at this one, then do your own searches ...Matt Cutts on changing domain name

Replace the 'changing domain name' with related wording and fin more about this topic.

While you can't change your domain name, you can register a new one and move all your content over to the new url. If you haven't really gotten much traction with your old domain, this may not be such a risky step to take since you'd have only one direction to go and that is up.

But if you have posts that are ranking high consistently, I'd leave things alone. While redirects can still get your audience from your old url to your new one, any move like this comes with hiccups.

Don't be afraid of making a move though. You're in control here. Months back I moved from my old domain of traveltheworldmakingmoneyonline.com to workfromyourlaptop.com and it was the best move I've made. Just keep in mind there will be a transition, but with time, things will smooth over, and you'll be all set.

Does anybody have experience with changing the domain name?
