Just because I am a good cook doesn’t mean I am a Chef

Last Update: October 05, 2013

My Saturday morning story... When I joined Wealthy Affiliates I was looking for a way to make my future living online. With the use of the internet it has been possible for certain companies to have its employees work from home. I have spent the last 3 years in the video game industry working from home and I don’t ever want to go back to an office building again. I am actually more productive working from home.

So I am at a point in my life that I want to take a new career path, while still doing the video game thing from time to time, as well as continuing to grow my eBay business. Then I stumbled across WA while looking for other ways to legitimately make money online. I say legitimately because there are a lot of scams out there.

When I first started I was a little nervous but thanks to the great training by Kyle and the awesome community of other members I now feel at home. I really liked the idea of a niche content website because I have a lot of knowledge that I would like to share so that others can benefit from it. You reap what you sow. By me wanting to help others with my knowledge I have received help in getting it done. I now have two up and running websites and I’m looking to start a third…after I tweak the ones I have to make them more efficient.

My first website was informing people about a healthier way to live with good food choices and vitamins (especially Vitamin D3) and revealing the facts as to why the flu vaccine is not necessary to avoid the flu. I know a lot about health and wellness because I have been living it for the past 26 years. I know it works wonders and is way safer, effective and cheaper than the conventional sick care that is practiced by many western medical doctors.

I also know a lot about video game testing and that is the topic of my most recent website. I wanted to tell people and to dispel the myth that video game testing is an easy job. Being a secretary or doing customer service or even being in sales, are easier jobs than testing a video game and they all pay more too.

You are probably thinking that can’t be true, but it is. You may be thinking, how can playing a video game from beginning to end be harder than those jobs? Well that is because testing a video game is not playing a game from beginning to end. Actually being very good at playing a video game is not even the top qualification to become a video game tester. It is actually the last qualification in determining if you will become a video game tester.

Since creating this new website I have had some people say to me, I never realized that a video game tester has to be so detail oriented, patient, articulate and have good grammar skills. There is so much misinformation and myths online about how to become a video game tester, that is why I had to create a website to help those who seek to become one. If you want to get into the video game industry and you have no experience or a college degree, being a video game tester is the best way to get your foot in the door.

Then I thought back to when this super nice guy I knew who used to set up networking cables came up to me and said, My son is really great with video games, he can beat games all the time. Can you hire him part-time? I said have him come in and I will see if he can cut it. Needless to say I didn't hire him and when his father asked me why, I wanted to give him my reason in a nice way because he really was a nice man. So I said…

Just because I am a good cook doesn't mean I am a Chef. :-)

A great blog. I have a grandson who is a video game zealot. I'll send him a link to your site and see what he thinks.

Nice story, and also interesting to see what you have done on WA and with WA -- I've been looking around some (this is my first "night") and do not find (looking back several months) too many people got so far as do blogs and websites you have jumped right in running!
