Hi everyone, I wonder if any inside WA community has heard of Bitcoin or is more involved with this future Currency. Would that be a good Niche?

Hey everyone, I read this thread a few days ago, and I decided to do some research for myself. I knew about bit coin shortly after it's release in 2009 and had not paid much attention. I have read about Silk Road and other black market sites that pretty much gave birth to this now steadily growing Crypt o currency, which turns out has spawned almost 100 other crypt o currencies, such as litecoin, namecoin, dogcoin etc, Check out the market capitalization's at http://coinmarketcap.com/. (*Not an affiliate link) My point is that while bitcoin and other crypt o currencies may have cons there are many pros too, like the fact that this a direct A to B transaction without 3rd party involvement. This currency is also not regulated by central authorities or governments because it was designed for everyone to use fairly. Not only that but anyone can earn bit coins through several different methods. http://earn-bitcoins.com/#earn-free-bitcoins/ While I definitely would not start buying bitcoins up, this could be a good opportunity to learn more about this growing trend. I have already thought of a dozen new ideas about using bitcoin as a niche. Also, fyi bitcoin is also getting the attention of some big name online stores like Overstock & Newegg, that now except bitcoin as payment. In any event I think I found my niche and I will keep everyone up on my progress. There just may be gold in them hills.

There is definitely gold in bitcoins, but there is a steep learning curve to get involved with the currency, and it is a tough market to penetrate. Still, it could be worth devoting some time to. I hope to make my second website related to the bitcoin niche (but have yet to build my first website, so it may be awhile).

Just please read this:
Bitcoin has been a subject of scrutiny due to ties with illicit activity. In 2013 the FBI shut down the Silk Road online black market and seized 144,000 bitcoins worth US$28.5 million at the time.[9] In China, new rules restrict bitcoin exchange for local currency,[10] and the European Banking Authority has warned that Bitcoin lacks consumer protections.[11] Bitcoins can be stolen, and chargebacks are impossible.

Spot on.

Keep in mind too that most drugs are bought and sold with U.S. dollars! Cash has all the same problems as bitcoins, but bitcoin has several advantages over cash. Yes, they can be stolen, but you can easily make it harder to steal your bitcoins than it would be to rob your safety deposit box from the bank. I believe bitcoins are here to stay and will become ever more important (but I also recognize that they could be supplanted by something even better).

Thanks richwhit2005. I appreciate your scepticism. I was also very reserved and careful about scams. It definitely seemed to me as scam when I first heard about Bitcoins 1.5 year ago. It is people's currency, no banks, no vaults. They are even on the stock exchange. You do not have to buy it neither. By mining coins you can and earn and own Bitcoins or you can exchange your goods or services for Bitcoins.

Can not speak for the entire world, but in Australia more and more private companies are accepting Bitcoins for a payment. I know people that paid for the entire Wedding with Bitcoins. It is becoming more and more popular between Businesses and People.
Also you can start mining Bitcoins for investment and profit.

I received an email a few days ago telling me what a great investment bitcoin is right now and that it will only grow as more companies adopt it. However, being the pessimist I am about such claims, I didn't take advantage of it. If I don't invest it will be a huge success. I'm afraid of being scammed, although I did hear a credible news segment about bitcoin and how it was rapidly growing in popularity. Please let me know if you decide to pursue it. Good Luck!

I have a little knowledge about it and think some type of digital currency is in our future. It may not be bitcoin exactly so I would not focus on that specifically but it could be a good niche don't know how you would monetize it? Do you have ideas?

Mhhhhm, How to Monetize it? It is tricky. I am thinking by discussing on Facebook, Tweeter, G+ between the people I know use Bitcoins already, exchanging ideas what was bought with Bitcoins and spreading the word. Using real companies stories, already using Bitcoins and benefits they gain. I would list a Bitcoin payment option on my website as well.

You probably don't have many bitcoins affiliate link opportunities though.

It's hot at the moment plenty of people selling information on how to make money from it. At the end of the day it's trading digital currency, as usual the people selling the information are not trading but making money from the info they sell.

Exactly! I share your concern.

Hey lovely WA people. I am thinking of buying ready set website in the niche I have in mind for eBay business. The site is completely built with all goodies and ready to go. Wha

Thank you bradgro, I will definitely build my own site and experiment with the other. Good luck to you too.

If you fully trust them and the website looks awesome - why not? But I'd also recommend building your own as well. There is some big personal satisfaction out of designing something from the ground up. Good luck which ever route you go.

I think I would take the time to put my own site together the way I want and do a little experimenting. I think the only thing I would outsource would be the header.

You can get a custom made header at fiverr for $5. As far as the website itself, you will be happier in the long run doing it yourself.

Thanks Smoore, appreciate your feedback.

Eh it doesn't sound good. A lot of people here have already been burned by the promise of short cuts and easy money.

I think if you have completely know about online business than you can buy it and make some changes. but if you start in this new world than don't do it until you get expirance.

You better build your website yourself. And what means ready to set to go. Posts and pages included. How many times do you think these posts had been already published? And is it a Wp-driven site? No, take a few weeks and build your own site, it will follow you a long time and will reflect your commercial identity.

Thanks Wayne, I am still very keen to build my own website from scratch and learn along the way. However I need something ready in mean time to get my ebay business going. Get published and start generating traffic to boost my sales on ebay.
You can basically get ready sites for $50 - $150.

Curious how much? I'd say no build you're own you will learn a lot more. If you don't care about learning then maybe be I don't know enough to say if it would be a good choice or not.

That is it. Just bad. Are you able to fill me in?

Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad!!!

Can anyone advise me how to choose a Theme for my first website? Does it matter what theme to choose?

Thanks Meredith, I think I understand now. This is very new for me as yet. One day will be "walk in a park" I guess.

If, you're talking about your own domain, then yes. If you're asking about the free Site Rubix, there are limitations like Nenita said. You can always switch a SRubix once you have upgraded and then do what you like.

Thank you Nenita, but isn't it depending on what your website will be all bout(i.e specific niche target market etc.)?

When you build a site they will provide you with the theme (3). You can choose which one you like

You can choose any theme you want, and you can also change it as often as you like:)
