As we powering into the New Year with no doubt we’ll be teeming with confidence to take 2014 by the horns for our best year EVER!

Pretty exciting, right?

You probably made an unspoken commitment with yourself in the mirror… right?

Made some written goals to achieve, put some plan in action to achieve those goals.

Very good, but what do you think will be your biggest obstacle? Just have a guess.

What will be your biggest distraction to achieving your new goals?

Facebook? Twitter? Checking email? Kids? Work?

I see you’re nodding, okay, sorry to tell you this, but… You’re wrong.

None of that stuff is the number one distraction. You’re biggest distraction is… YOU...

Yep. It’s your brain that is the control tower to everything you do. It’s up to you to stay focused on your tasks.

So let me share with you a few tips:

1) Have an emotionally fuelled reason attached to achieving your goal and visualise it daily.

2) Breakdown your big goals into small achievable Daily tasks.

3) Work in small isolated chunks of time. Give yourself uninterrupted slots of time of 30mins, 45mins, 1 hour or 90mins or more per day. You choose what works best for you.

4) Reward yourself along the way once you complete your smaller tasks. Your brain will love you for this.

5) Have an accountability partner. Robert B. Cialdini said in his best-selling book, INFLUENCE (Influence, has sold over 2 million copies, New York Times Bestseller and has been published in twenty-seven languages).

“If you make your goals public and be accountable you will increase your chance of reaching them by 700 times!”
