So many tasks, not enough time in the day

I realize that many tasks I have going on within WA are increasing and I am having a challenging time accomplishing them to their completion. So I have a question for my fellow WA community:

What are your daily WA activities?

These are the standard tasks we perform on a daily basis:

Training, Research, Content, Website Management, SEO, Social marketing, Various Marketing Tasks (local, video, email), Affiliate

There may be other tasks not listed here that you are performing regularly. Please share with us those other tasks not listed.

I am seeking input from members on all aspects: daily, weekly, monthly. I am curious to see the various methods we individually use and execute. By seeing other people's methods and their successes, I may be able to integrate their thought processes into my daily tasks.

Thank you for your consideration and I'm looking forward to your contributions!

Wayne

Hi Wayne - when I first started just a couple of months ago, I got so consumed by this and wanted to do everything at a million miles per hour. Now that I've been here for 4 months I realise that was just the excitement of a new adventure. I seem to be a lot more measured now and try not to get too distracted by the amount of information available to us all.

On a daily basis I respond to new followers, add new G+ contacts, and reply to any comments I can helpfully add to. Some days I spend a good 7 hours writing posts and sharing on social media, and some days (due to work commitments) I do nothing. I try not to beat myself up about doing nothing!

I've yet to find a daily plan that I can stick to but I'm in this for the long haul, so hopefully one will form soon!

Yesterday I watched the WAbinar about improving Google rankings, so will be working on that today. So much to do.....!!

Thank you Jilly! Yes I definitely agree with you- so much to do. Do you find it challenging that you have a certain rhythm with your daily activities that when new training comes out, tasks are put on the side while you participate in the new activity. Then the workload has doubled when you resume your daily activities. That happens to me quite often and I get frustrated.

The input from other members on their daily activities that work for them will definitely give me some ideas on what may work for me and how to incorporate that into my business. So stay tuned!

HI yes, indeed. One thing I have recently done though is to turn off my Outlook notifications so that I'm not distracted by emails (especially ones from WA!) coming in.

I'm still learning which can take 2 hours every day and going through the levels of which there is a lot to take in for a newbie.
Also I find other daily chores get in the way if for example your working full time still until you make an income online.

Thank you for your comment Darren. I appreciate your openness. It does take time to learn the training available to every member in WA and I understand that every person have their own lives.

I have heard the word "balance" used often in blog posts and as answers in posted questions. Balance is paramount. I believe you are on the right track. Couple that up with your focus on achieving your goals and you will be on the fast track of surpassing them.

Best wishes for you Darren!

Hi Wayne

My trick is to have a schedule and try to stick to it. My time is spent something like this:

Daily - 1-2 hours
Checking and responding to emails (WA and webmail)
Checking and responding to comments on the website
Content - blogging/researching blog topics/keyword research/creating graphics etc.
Social media engagement (FB and Twitter mainly)
Scheduling social media posts to Buffer

Weekly - 8 hours usually at the weekend
WA Training (webinar replay/other)
Sending out mailshot to email list
Checking Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools
Adding new posts to the Give and Take Comment Thread and commenting on other people's websites
Affiliate marketing research

Ad-hoc
Applying for affiliate programs
Website maintenance/improvements
Giving and receiving website feedback at WA

Somehow I manage to fit all of this in around a 40-50 hour working week and a relatively adequate social life. I'm still not sure how I manage it.

Hope that helps a bit. In the beginning, you have a lot on your plate, and certain things I now do weekly, or on an ad-hoc basis, I once had to do daily. But they are one-time jobs so once you have done the hard work in setting things up, you only then have to maintain them going forward. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, but if you work through the training and do things in the order Kyle tells you, and try not to get distracted by shiny things then you'll be fine. If you get ahead of yourself, or have ideas of things that aren't in the training, make a list of them. Then, once the training is finished, go back to that list and work through it. There really is no rush to get everything in place straight away.

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but as/when I do, I'll come back and edit this :)

I can always count on you Claire for painting a vivid picture of your daily activities. Thank you very much, my friend!

Do you have a particular program, app or web based resource(s) to keep you organized and help document your thoughts?

I often refer back to the Kyle's training to refresh my thoughts and to reinforce the common practices of a particular activity.

I look forward to more of your insights Claire. Thanks again, my friend!

You are very welcome Wayne :)

I just use a good old excel spreadsheet for my posting schedule and any other specific to-do lists. Occasionally, I use an app on my phone called any.do (android) if I have ideas or thoughts while I am not sitting at a computer.

Everything else has become a routine now. But allocating say half an hour to emails/comments, half an hour to social promotion and an hour to blogging each day (more to blogging if you have time), should see you right. I think (don't quote me on this) the formula should be something like 80/20 - 80% time spent on content and 20% on promotion.. but I can't remember where I have read that.

It is definitely good practice to refer back to the training every now and again, to help cement good practices and help you get through the more technical of tasks.

If you are struggling, maybe try to prioritise and work through things in a specific order. Content being the most important, along with training (in the beginning).. after that social media, the give and take thread, then email management, affiliate programs and WA etc... the odd distraction is fine, but when it happens too often you can easily lose half a day on peripherals.

I'm struggling with my time management too, so I will be reading the answers. Thanks for posting this!

You're welcome Shelley! Yes, definitely stay tuned as great ideas will start coming out of the woodworks soon :)

Got up at 2.30 yesterday morning for WA stuff. Thought I could handle it but the mistakes at work later were just too much! So don't take my advice! Glyn

Hello Glyn, thank you for your candidness. I believe that we have all been there and everyone's input is valuable to me. Please stay tuned as there will be some great responses out there to be shared.

boy....had to think about that, it is soooo automatic now. My day starts by setting up my store which includes warming up my laptop. While it's warming up I will perform some menial task as needed. After the laptop is warmed up I will start processing my email. First my personal then my gmail, I usually have about 75 to 100 emails every day. About 25% are from WA the rest are from other marketers that give me products and great ideas. Note: while I am doing this I am also taking care of my customers and taking appointments by phone or they just walk in. After processing my email I start writing blog material. After about an hour or two of that I work on my websites. By this time its the end of the work day and I close the store. Lock it up and make sure everything is turned off. When I get home I spend some time with the wife, eat some dinner together, talk about the day and what we need to do tomorrow. I then go to my office, process some more email, and then either write some more blog material, work on the websites, or do some training. I do this Monday thru Friday. On the weekends it is basically the same only no store.
Hope this is what you are looking for, had to really think about it. lol

Thank you Robert for your contribution of your daily routine. That is great that you are able to "keep a finger" on your WA business routine throughout the day. You have certainly given me some motivation to keep it going. I appreciate all types of responses regarding my blog posts. It is very informative and will clue people in on the different methods of operating their respective businesses. Best Wishes for your Robert!

I try to do something each day, a training video, research, add/fix/update website or just reply to some blogs as I am doing now. I try to do an hour a day minimum. Sometimes it is just surfing for info while travelling or waiting for transport. My main focus though is getting my site completed. I don't worry about the ranking so much here on WA site but it goes down anyway.

I commend you on finding the time within your busy schedule. I believe that once all the components of the website have been property and strategically placed, the website will continue to evolve with continued posts, reviews and content. Stay tuned, there will be some great input by other fellow WA members :)

This is a question that I have asked. You don't want to be rude and not respond, but with other things that have to be done in the training process, there doesn't seem to be enough hours in a day. If someone comes up with a reasonable solution, please let me know. Thanks, Rocky

I will certainly pass it along to you. Stay tuned, my friend!

I am a bit the same it is all a matter of priority do the most important first. because of my job commitments my time with wa is after work either in front of tv (muted) or in bed probably no more than two hours a dayat the most. but I am determined to make this work no matter how slow I am. cheers Helen

That is great to hear of your determination Helen. Other WA members will be sharing their ideas of how they are able to integrate their daily routines that help build their business.

This is a great question. I'm glad you asked it. I also want to know the answer. I am still learning a lot so I'm sure it's taking me a lot longer for some things.

Thank you Tanya! I am sure that we will learn a lot from other fellow WA members. We have such a supportive community here looking out for each others successes. We will see how others will respond :)
