I want to create a "Links" page within my niche website to other WA members niche website. Here are some details.

I would ask for permission from the niche website owner to

I would think it would be like any news page, they are made up of other people's page links!

I think you have covered the essentials in that you ask permission from the owner of the website you want to link to. I would like to link to another site and you have prompted me to get on with it and ask the owner's permission, so thanks for this blog. Wendy.

Good idea

If you do it, make sure you contact the people you linked to AFTER you publish so they can share your post with their audience. More potential visitors for you ;)

Oh, and try to link to only relevant blogs.

You can use any of mine that you want. I know I have at least one that will work for ya. :) I have actually thought of doing something like this with my network site.

Would this be beneficial to your website? ~Marion

Should be okay, as long as the other site owner doesn't mind.

Yes you sure can! I have done so, but have asked permission first. You do not need that though.

Thank you,

Adam

It's all good.

I guess I would have to say if it is ok with the other site owners I would. Do you think this would bring traffic to there sites? How does this help your site and do you have other link options to choose from? Food for thought.

Are there any advantages or disadvantages of posting a free image(s) that require an attribution, or acknowledgement?

Wayne, All of the images I use are 100% Free. As long as they have a CC0 (Creative Commons Zero) license and/or no watermark, they are 100% Free to use with No Attribution Needed.

I did training (see link below) on this exact topic a month ago and I provided 12 of my favorite links to Free CC0 Image Directories that I use. I even show you how to find CC0 images on Google.

Thank you Robert for your valued contribution and training resource! Mahalo!

Good question. I read Robert training link.

See Robert has given you information you need

Yes, Robert was kind enough to share his contribution for us all. Thank you Katie for your comment!

I used them on my site and write the acknowlegments

Thank you Sheerin for your comment!

I use Freedigitialphotos and have no problems. Just simply add the acknowledgement in the text.

Thank you for your comment Roland. Yes, I use FDP too- its quite a valuable image resource for my websites.

I don't mind attributions under my images at all.
You can look at my site how I handle the attributions.

Doesn't stand out that much, I think.

Thank you for your comments Moritz. You have create image content and the attributions, like you mentioned, does not stand out at all. I have bookmarked your page and plan to comment on your posts when time permits.

By the way, great & cool photo in your WA profile page. I reside on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, Aloha my friend!

Thank you.
I will have a look at your site from time to time, too.

Aloha. ;)
This picture is from a vacation. Loved it there.
I live in Taiwan at the moment, which is nice, too. :)

I have no problem with people using free images. I see this from the other side. As a photographer it bothers me that some photographers allow their images to be used for free. You don't see mechanics working for free. If your work is any good put a value on it, don't give it away.

Thank you James for your comment and appreciate your thoughts. I can see your point of view of a photographer's value of their work.

Would the images on these free image sites show just a small glimpse of the photographer's basic work? And an opportunity to view more of that photographer's more expansive work- maybe higher resolution, better vivid background images, etc.

Again James, thank you for your valued input!

Many photographers are just happy to see their images being used.

The problem with free images is that many (not all) are taken by amature photographers. Many of whom are very capable photographers, but it does drive the overall price down. This makes it difficult for professional photographers to get a fair price for their work.

Like anything it's about supply and demand. But when the supply is FREE, How do you compete?

Hi I have always used paid images because I can always get what I want in seconds. fotolia.com

Thank you Lindon for your comment and your paid images link!

Hi there,

free images are a good start and besides some paid images I mostly use the free images from FreeDigitalPhotos. net as they have a huge collection, especially for the make money online niche.

Giving attribution doesn't bother me as long as the website I get them from is legit and FDP is one of them. Been using them ever since I started my website and I add an attribution directly into the image and never had an issue with their licensing or got an email sent that I use them in an appropriate way.

Nicole

Thank you Nicole for your comments. I also use FreeDigitalPhotos dot net and find that acknowledgements are okay with me.

My concern is that I feel there will be a segment of visitors that come to my site and see all these attributions with each uploaded image and they may think "Hmm, does this guy have any original image content?"

I think I'm just "thinkin' thinking". ;)

Nah, I wouldn't worry about them. Fact is that you can not please every single person surfing the web and when you look at other websites, I see quite a few with images and an attribution to it. :)

So I have to agree with you and say that you're just thinking...LoL. Keep doing what you're doing and use as many free images as you want. There's nothing wrong with it and looking at the ones from Free Digital Photos. At least they are of quality and if you're using images relevant to your website/article, that's all what counts.
