I have failed again

My referrals were pouring in. Every month I got plenty of them. My high month was 24 referrals. Referrals every day. You would think I would be fine with that. I wasn't.
I was also getting some sales. Not as many as I thought I should be getting compared to the referrals, so I made some changes to fix it.
I changed up my content to make sure the referrals I was getting would convert at a higher rate. Good plan. Let the fix begin.
I worked hard to make the changes. Tweak this, change that, rewrite those things and off I go. That should do it. I am one smart fellow, right. Let the conversion rate fly.
I succeeded. I did it. I succeeded in doing away with getting referrals at all. That's right. The changes I made slowed down my referrals drastically until finally I was down to 2 for the month of August 2016. Yay me.

That's too bad because during that same period my traffic jumped nicely. If I hadn't messed with things the referrals and sales would have been what I was trying to get to.
This is not the first time I have failed here while trying to improve something. The times are numerous. Not only failed while trying to improve something but just flat out failed to understand this or that. I have had more failures than successes. Many more.
My point is that I have learned much more from my failures than I have from my successes. My successes made me a little complacent. Relaxed. Not working as hard as I should. Comfortably numb.
I like my failures. They put me on edge. Keep me on my toes. So I lost a bunch of referrals and probably sales too. I will get them back or expire trying. That's the good part of it. It's not over.
I am still in the game. I live to fight another day. Without failure there isn't any success or if there is it's not as sweet. So embrace your failures, learn from them and then you move on.
Don't use failure as an excuse for giving up. Because after your latest failure huge success may be right there just waiting for you. Press on no matter what.
Let the games begin.
