By default the home page will display the recent post, if you don't have any post you will get error message. Or else you have to do the reading setting. Go to Setting then Reading you can set your home page there.

Have you double checked that your home page is linked correctly or verified that the url address is correct? Also, the header issue probably means that you have some form of code in the header that is not correct (Ex. You are referencing a deleted file or the incorrect image).

You don't need to know what is out there. Don't build your site around what you can promote, people will quickly see that and keep away. Build your site around what interests you, then find things related you can talk about. You can find things for just about any niche imaginable.

You start with your idea.

Example: You like Xbox. So you begin your website by writing articles about Xbox include games etc. Review Xbox against Playstation and other game platforms.

Once you begin to get traffic, then you would sign up for affiliate programs such as Amazon, Best Buy to name a couple. If they approve you, then you can add their links to you pages.

Note, in order to get accepted to the an affiliate program you need to tell them how much traffic you are getting to your site. Too low of traffic, you may not be accepted.

You have to have quality content to your website as well. That will help with your Google ranking and having affiliate marketers accept you.

If you bought a domain from example Go Daddy,etc then the hosting should transfer over in a few hours maximum. Sometimes it only takes an hour or so. Have you checked the section to the left "Websites and Hosting" to see if it is there? If it's not there after a few hours, make sure you put in the correct DNS details where you either purchased the domain or the last site that you had your domain hosted at.

Did you buy your domain or did you use a free one? If you bought it it should be ready to go, mine was any way.
