Affiliate link in text vs image
Hi friends!
I just want to share how my affiliate links performed for the last year. This report is from Amazon.
I found that my links perform better if they are in the text rather than in the images.
The code up there is for text only.
Down below is for the image affiliate link performance.
See the difference?
Text link got 691 clicks while image link got 412 clicks.
Conversion rate for the text link is 9.41% while image link is 3.64%.
Which link should I use?
I think I will still use both links as they eventually bring traffic.
I'm loving the text link better because:
- it proves me that my article got read
- people agreed on my opinions and click the link
How about NativeAds?
Somehow I see that this type of ads doesn't work on my website. It has very low clicks.
and NO CONVERSIONS!
I think that even though Amazon NativeAds looks very nice, I think people know that it is an advertisement. People tend to avoid it, don't they?
What do you think?
Should I discard all nativeads? Should I only choose text, image, text-image?
What is your opinion on this?

NativeAds never worked in my site, but I know that some people are fine with them. This is irony because I wrote the training about them here at WA.
As for image link, you realize that linked image can be overlooked, it is seen only after visitor hovers above the image. So this is surely one reason.
The part I do not understand is when you speak about conversion. This happens when visitors leave the site and go to Amazon. So whatever happens this is on Amazon, do not see how this can be affected by the way they came there.
Conversions are the traffic that ends up buying products from Amazon.
Yes. You are right that this can't be affected by the way they came there. But I believe in volume. Conversions will happen if I have big enough volume in clicks.
This was interesting and useful... To get more out of it, I would have to know the niche, focus, and design of the site...
Are you also tracking the on page actions of viewers? This will have an effect on how well the links do...
For instance, if you see that there are certain areas that people tend to gravitate to, you could place your links or image in that area...
Statistics are our friends! Even with emails, such tactics can be useful....An example: If you track what people are doing on the mail, you can change where you place your CTAs and improve the CTR...
Thanks for sharing, definitely lessons for us all!
Cheers!
Dave : )
You are right, Dave. We should check the hotspots of our site.
This blog only discuss one aspect only. :D
Where to check on my Amazon whether it's text link or image link?
Nvm. I found out. For me, my text and image links are performing better than Nativeads.
Arief, perhaps you can create a training on how to do this (tracking Id and how to check it out). I bet other people will find it useful (including me!)
Thanks for sharing your ad statistics. I was also wondering what kind of ads I should use more often. Amazon is now offering and extra incentive to use native ad groups but if they never get clicked on I see no point in adding them.
That's what I'm thinking. NativeAds is promoting higher commission but mine never got clicks.
