Now, just what does it take to be a Richard Branson, an Oprah Winfrey or a Michelle Mone?

The answer could well lie in the common rituals shared by the world's most successful business and highly motivated individuals. These have guided them to heights of uncommon achievements beyond the average man.

And it starts from the very minute they wake up!

Now this is absolutely intriguing and you just have to read on.

You see, when you wake up, your brain is in the Alpha State and your Recticular Activating System (RAS) is ready to receive programming. This is the brain's mechanism responsible for humans' ability towards accomplishments and achieving set goals.

So then, your morning habits determine the outcome of your endeavors for the day.

1. GET OUT OF BED EARLY

While the average man will stumble out of bed blearily or hit the snooze button on their alarm system, the world's top achievers have mastered the art of rising early and kicking off their days with productive enthusiasm.

I am not a fan of Beyonce neither do I share some of her ideals, but I respect her fierce determination to conquer the world.

Here’s an excerpt from a recent Elle article I came across:

At exactly 5am, Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter arrives at Mimoda, a spare, mirror-walled, bare-floored dance studio in central Los Angeles that echoes the image she is here to disseminate…A woman who is here to work…a tightly managed operation”

SEE THAT THERE?

This woman is already “conquering the world” by 5:00 am while some are still rubbing their groggy eyes praying the sun doesn’t come out just yet!

So, jump out of bed and resist the urge to hit the snooze button or try to get some more sleep. This allows the flow of that critical momentum necessary for productivity as your brain is in the alpha state.

You could set your alarm to play an inspirational audio track instead of the traditional clanging noise. Waking up to a motivational audio track will set you up for success as this will send waves of positive vibrations to your brain, thus setting you up for a day of maximum success.

2. MEDITATE, GIVE THANKS & MAKE ENTREATIES

Masters & teachers of wealth creation strongly advocate this as an indispensable element in achieving success in life.

Oprah Winfrey, one of the most powerful women in the world, has kept a Gratitude Journal for many years and is a staunch preacher of the “power and pleasure” of being grateful.

Mornings are the best times for meditation (silencing the mind) as it improves concentration, better health and increased knowledge of self.

Devote a few moments to work on yourself mentally and spiritually.

As soon as you are up, list the things you are grateful for starting with yourself and move further to your loved ones and then to all that you have in your life. Thank God for them.

Meditate on what you need to achieve for the day and make entreaties.

You may want to reference your journal entries, assuming you have one. If you don’t, please start a journal writing out your Goals, Schedule for the Day & develop a Task Management System right away.

3. DRINK A LARGE GLASS OF WATER (IT WASHES THE COBWEBS AWAY)

When you fail to drink enough water in the morning, your brain operates on less fuel, and you feel drained, fatigued and experience mood fluctuation, thus setting you up for failure.

Your brain tissue is 75% water.

After sleeping for 6-8 hours our body is dehydrated. Drinking water immediately after waking up is an absolute must for proper hydration and flushing out toxins. You also feel less inclined to consume unhealthy calories as your brain sometimes interprets thirst as hunger.

Drinking a large glass of water first thing in the morning is excellent for keeping a healthy weight as your metabolism will be accelerated by 24% for 90 minutes.

Soon as you wake up, join the leagues of highly successful people and pep up your body and re-invigorate your brain functions for a highly productive day by drinking a large glass of water.

4. READ & / OR LISTEN TO MOTIVATIONAL & INSPIRATIONAL MATERIALS

The best way to ignite the spirit of endless possibilities and spur on your whole being, mentally, physically and emotionally to achieve maximum success for the day ahead, is by feeding your whole being with inspirational and motivational vibrations.

So instead of reaching for your phone to check Whatsapp or Facebook; reading newspapers or checking your emails, you could devour a motivational and inspirational material in the form of books or audio recordings; your mind, mental state and your total being will be programmed for unlimited success.

5. GET UP & EXERCISE

A bout of exercise in the morning increases blood flow to the brain, improves cognitive functions, making you more alert and focused on activities for the day.

Even a moderate workout releases the feel-good hormones, endorphin, that will boost your mood and sense of accomplishment, reduce stress, and energize your body.

You don’t have to hit the gym or run a marathon to get going. A simple stretching routine or fast paced walk for 15 to 45 minutes around the neighborhood is enough to kick your day to a healthy and productive start.

Enjoy the uncluttered air and look around you as you workout opening your mind to the fantastic opportunities in the day ahead.

6. HAVE A HEALTHY BREAKFAST

Have a healthy wholesome breakfast within an hour of waking up and your body and brain functions will be optimized for productivity, keeping your creative juices free flowing.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so do not skip it!

25 to 33% of your daily calories should be from your breakfast.

Do not eat junk or processed food.

Avoid white empty starchy food.

Simple carbohydrates like white rice and white bread release sugar in the body at a faster rate than complex carbohydrates and protein. These give the body an immediate feeling of false high energy which dries up very quickly leaving you constantly fighting a battle for energy during the day.

So, focus on real food like fruits, oats, vegetable blends and proteins.

7. TAKE A MOMENT TO VISUALIZE A SUCCESSFUL DAY

Once you have seen the day happen in your mind, you have lived 50% of it…

Now it’s time to go and tackle the other 50% with gusto!

After your meditation, motivational, re-hydration cleansing, workout and a healthy breakfast, take a moment and set your intentions for the type of day you want to have.

Close your eyes, with steady comfortable deep breathes, and see in your mind eyes your entire day unfold before you. This stimulates your RAS, that part of your brain that plays a vital part in your ability to achieve goals, allowing this important psycho-cybernetic mechanism know what type of day you want to have.

8. FINALLY, TAKE YOUR TIME TO LOOK GOOD... VERY GOOD!

Would you be willing to do any kind of business with a man who looked like he was living on the streets? Chances are you would not.

It is a fact of life that the world judges us by our appearance. You must take a few extra minute to go out into the world looking the best you can.

If you want to discuss a million-dollar-business, by all means look like a million-dollar-business man or woman.

A recent study by two economists found that “extra time spent grooming has a positive and significant effect on both men’s and women’s earnings.”

It is a fact of life that the world judges us by our appearance. You must take a few extra minute to go out into the world looking the best you can.

You judge others by how they look, just as others judge you by how you look.

5. What am I enjoying most in my life now?
6. What am I committed to in my life now?
7. Who do I love?
8. Who loves me?

Next, I take some time to write in my spiritual journal. Here are the questions I ask myself:

What is my spiritual learning for today?
What value can I gain from this?
How can I use this in my life today?
