Your side bar is composed of Widgets. To manage these, you can go to the Appearance => Widgets section of your site and add and remove certain widgets.

By default, you will have no widgets in there already, but your website will have a default set of widgets there. To remove these, you simply have to add one widget.

If you are trying to remove the sidebar altogether, you MIGHT be able to do this (every theme is different). You will see this option right within that page/post editor for that particular page/post you are creating (usually down the right hand side of the editor, you may be able to remove it).

Rick is right. As they say around here, "Content is King". Try and add some content (quality content), everyday if you can.

Congrats. Focus on writing content even before advertising. Give your visitors something that helps them before you try to sell them. Providing value first will get more engagement. All the best to you.
