Creating an income-generating business online should be a relatively easy process, there is so much information, resources and for that matter opportunities online, one doesn't have to look that far to find some.

I used to be in the work hard and achieve results camp, I mean to say if we stick at something then the results will come. That is the way the world works is it not?

Maybe there is something else that we are missing, that little thing that no one tells you about that secret bit of the code and with it we can crack it.

Sometimes the answers are right in front of our eyes it is just that we don't see them, perhaps we are not in the right place or space.

Some folks say work smarter not harder.

Research is a major factor in creating that online success for sure. But still, there is that little thing that can turbocharge our processes and progress.

A Fishing Tale,

Fishing has been on my mind of late, I have been drilling down to find that niche within a niche you know the one where fishing folks are spending money, easy peazy like falling off a log, it does take time, to find that spot.

Some folks have got that fishing sorted, a fisherman was at the river casting and catching, just about at his daily limit, a basket full of fish. A young guy comes along and is impressed with the catch and the way the older guy effortlessly casts his line.

The young guy said, " I would love to be able to fish like you.....you make it look so easy. I hope that you don't mind me asking what bait do you use and what is the make of rod that you use, if I know what you use I will be able to catch fish like you. "

The older guy said out of the blue, " I have to go to town would you like to borrow my rod and bait, you are most welcome to use my gear if you would like.

The younger guy was stoked, his mind was racing with that rod and bait he will be able to catch all the fish that he wanted to.

" See you in a little while best wishes, oh and if someone comes along offer them some fish from the basket it is always good to pay things forward it brings good fortune."

Some time past and the older guy returned to a forlorn fisherman, not one fish not even a nibble, same bait same rod same everything. The fish were just swimming by so tauntingly close but yet so far.

"What am I doing wrong I am obviously not cut out to be a fisherman. "

"You are using the same rod and bait, but the one thing that you are missing is the knowledge, skills, and experience that I have developed over years that I have been fishing."

A little penny drop moment for the young guy, he had been fishing but not in the right way or with the right attitude he wanted to catch fish no matter what, without creating the experience.

Moving forward the young guy was determined to build on his experiences.

You can not beat experience, you cannot buy it at the shop you have to create it there is no other way, I think that it may be a universal law, once we realize that all our endeavors take on a new dimension and dynamic.

Resources, equipment, and software will take us so far, in our online journey, what we should focus on, is developing our skills, working on our perspectives and the one thing above all else accumulating valuable experiences if we do that we can achieve great results, just a personal reflection

It seems so simple, probably too simple because it is easy to overlook it.

Experience counts for a lot, observation shows me that folks here in Wealthy Affiliate are continually outperforming the platforms that they are reviewing, or creating content around, doing it organically even to the point of gaining that page one, number one ranking with a featured snippet, time and time again.

There is one element that creates this possibility and that is the experience that they have gained from applying knowledge and gaining skills from taking action over and over again.

Experience counts for a lot and once earned it will take us far and it is something that we can build on.

A great analogy Alex and a good read too. You cannot beat experience and experience takes time and effort.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Hi Karen, it can take time to build experiences each one adds something to our understanding which applied can help us to expand our horizons. thank you for sharing your insights, I like how you have expressed them.

Very appropriate, thanks Alex

Hi Steve, it can put things into perspective, building experience can be what both, lifts our game and also gets us across the line.

once begun, half done

That is so true Steve, I like it.

you can use it for a small fee ---- lol jk

Excellent point and analogy, Alex. Thanks for sharing
Steve

Hi Steve, one of those analogies that we can cross reference across many different areas of our lives and business.

A good tale if read st old help many understand this business.thanks for sharing

Hi, Courtney thank you for stopping by, we can not force things or make them happen overnight. developing an in-depth understanding takes time but it does help us to create a successful online presence. Thank you for commenting much appreciated.

Great food for thought! Thanks Alex

Hi Nnakife, you are most welcome I am glad that you found some value in this post. Experience and experiences can help us to build from a solid foundation

Thanks for this post, Alex. Good stuff! I am not a person who usually falls for thsoe get rich quick themes, but I know that I am also a person who needs to see progress and success every now and then. Now, with content marketing, seeing progress in terms writing X words today, working on your blog, getting comments, receiving good and constructive feedback, incorporating that etc. is one thing, but I also feel that "monetary success" takes quite a while with this business model. I feel like the "feedback loop" is quite "large", in terms that it takes a whole lot of time until you realize if the niche and/or product you chose is something that will thrive.

One thing I am somewhat missing is a "collective" idea validation platform. Like something where the experienced marketers look at newcomer's niche selection and the like and give feedback in terms of evaluating that particular niche for opportunity of success...

While writing that I noticed I'm going a bit off topic here. Great post, non the less, and 100% agreement :-)

Left a like and a WA-follow :-)
Cheers,
chris

Hi Chris, thank you for commenting, I follow your line of thinking, just a personal opinion, when looking at that niche selection first up it is about learning the ropes, especially if it is in the MMO niche, if it is product or service based then it can take time to bed it in. Down the track, with knowledge and skills, it is possible to create something that will return on your investment. I probably swim upstream a little but look for where folks are spending money when it comes to that niche selection.
I agree with you that niche selection first up can be a hard one, it is all about how we craft the theme that reaches out to the audience that we are trying to look after. Your idea is a valid one many folks struggle in that area.

Thanks for that feedback, Alex!

Most welcome Chris and thank you as well you have given me some food for thought as well.

Very true, Alex, very true. And if you have that experience nobody can ever take it away from you.

Hi Nick, that is a very good way to look at things, I like your perspective, we earn it we own it and at the end of the day, we can use those experiences to drive things forward.

Exactly.

Yes, it can take a little time for that one to sink in but I guess when it does there is no holding us back.

Great analogy and thank you for sharing.

Hi Gail, you are most welcome, building those experiences helps us to gain that deeper knowledge and understanding.

Greay post. I need to go and freshen up my bait (i mean website content)

Classic Glenys, it is something that we should all focus on creating that exceptional user experience.

What a great post! This fishing tale speaks volumes. Thanks, Alex.:)
