Generate Press Some Resources and Reflections That May Help You
I have recently come across a Wordpress theme called Generate Press, after Jay, mentioned it in one of his live webinars.. A light, fresh and vibrant theme, which ticks quite a few boxes, speed being the apex, aspect for me.
Some members are asking some questions related to this theme, so I thought that I would share some resources that have helped with my exploration. When we use a product/service it can be useful to drill down and find out as much information as we can.
Currently, I am using the free version, which suits my purpose, I would like to hear from you if you are using the premium version.
Thoughts, Reflections, and Pro Tips.
Affiliate Program.
I see that there is an Generate Press affiliate program which currently pays 35% on any referrals.
https://generatepress.com/affiliates/
Pro Tip; we all use resources in our respective businesses. You would be surprised how many actually have affiliate programs and equally surprised at the commissions paid. Using something gives us the inside running, on knowledge, pros, and cons, etc.
Facebook Group.
They have an excellent Face book group, which is relatively active, a great place to get advice and answers to issues that you may be facing.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1113359788719597/
Pro Tip, no matter what product or resource you are using, there can be a related Facebook group. One of the cool things is that there are no sponsored posts as with your personal feed, just real value. Being in a group also allows us to engage.
A well-crafted post or comment can be worth its weight in gold. We just need to remember to keep those posts and comments congruent with the vibe of the group and be within the moderators/admins frames of reference.
Video Collection.
There is an excellent collection of Genreate Press videos on Vimeo, well worth checking out.
Pro Tip; if we are using a product or service, go searching on YouTube for information. Also, check out Vimeo, it may take a little searching to find the motherload of videos but well worth the effort. Just try searching using various keyword combinations.
If the firm is on the next level, they tend to use Vimeo ( personal reflection). Because you can create, upload, and embed videos in content and it doesn't have that selection of related and recommended videos lining up behind and over the content.
The Blog.
There is an excellent Generate Press blog that covers a wide range of associated topics that can really help with the usability and knowledge base.
Pro Tip; when you use a product or service, go searching for the associated blog. It can be a wealth of knowledge and opportunities, sign up to the newsletter. You can guarantee you will get notification of any deals going, "one-off's" or " Black Friday" deals. Which can be an excellent opportunity to upgrade of you to feel the need or see the value.
Hope that you find this useful if you use Generate press feel free to chime in with your thoughts and experiences, or even your thoughts would be appreciated.
PS, there are a few links in this post, none are affiliate links, it is just a point of a reference and discussion post.

Thanks for sharing Alex. I bought GeneratePress after watching Jay's live video and I am now using it for my website, replacing the old one.. Love the clean look of this theme.
Cheers,
Pio
Hi Pio, thank you for sharing your experiences, the clean and fresh look is one of the things that has attracted me as well.
Alex
Hi Alex, thank you for sharing that information. Sounds really good. I will be checking it out.
All the best,
Michael
Hi Michael, yes I am pleasantly surprised, I like to drill down into things and have developed a pattern when it comes to finding out and obtaining information seems to work well.
Glad that you found some value in this post.
best wishes.
Alex
Thanks for this post! I have a domain for a third website, and was planning to use Generate Press for a theme. Glad to learn some things ahead of time.
Hi Fran, you are going to be busy, I have run into a few members that are searching and also encountering issues, one of the good things about WA is that we can share our travels as a community.
It is always good to tap into as much information as we can to get things on track, it makes the content creation flow if we can nail down the technical aspects.
Best wishes with that new site.
Alex
I started using it as well after Jay talked about it the other night. I was doing great until I inserted images and looked at it on my phone. It inserted quite a bit of white space between the image and the content. Looks great on computer though lol. I've been hunting for a solution but haven't found it yet. Hadn't thought of checking with FB. Great post thank you for sharing.
Hi, Debbie, thank you for stopping by and sharing with us. I believe there are a few of us that have done that, starting out with Wordpress can be a little overwhelming in the beginning,
When we design a website the traditional way is to create a desktop site, a tablet view, and a mobile view. In that hierarchy.
Sometimes the theme will not make that automatic adjustment, so when we view it on mobile things look a bit pear-shaped.
Have a look at the image sometimes we need to edit for the mobile view.
- go to your Wordpress dashboard.
- click appearance.
- Click customize,
- scroll down see the three icons, desktop, tablet, mobile.
- Click the Mobile phone.
- make edits, it may mean changing your image to suit.
- click publish to save changes.
Thank you so, so much. That worked!!! I really appreciate you taking the time to help me. Thank you again.
So pleased for you Debbie, it doesn't matter where we start in the design process, what counts is what we create and as we move along we can build on yesterdays success.
Best wishes.
One of the keys can be to reach out if we get stuck and probably do that sooner rather than later.
I purchased the pro version of GP. I didn't like it, I still have on my computer file. I decided to go with a different theme. I plan to go back maybe one day. Thanks for this, maybe I ought to give it a second chance.
Hi, Brenda thank you for sharing there are so many themes out there, and one thing that I have learned is that we need to feel comfortable and at home with our chosen themes.
I have been there as well with other themes, so now when I go through that due diligence I research and fins as much information as I can, one of the best places to find that info is in forums that deal with issues, funnily enough, that can be Facebook or Quora.
Once we get going it can just be one them that ticks all the boxes, it is always good to play around and find the one that suits us the best.
Alex
Hi, Brenda, sometimes when you change a theme it does not impact too much on the look and style from the previous theme if they are similar and the site is not too developed.
I intend to use GP with the Divi builder plugin, they seem to be a good fit thus far, have just created a new site and it is on the new PHP 7 servers, which is purring along.
Some of the resources online drop a level of functionality on the older servers.
Having said that there is quite a bit of customization available with GP straight out of the box. One of the things to do could be to create a test site and just work through the different possibilities that are available.
Play around to get the look that you want, it can be trial and error, better to do it on a test site and then introduce it to our flagship when you are happy with the look and feel.

Hi Keisha, thank you for stopping by, just sharing some experiences and routines, it is good when things are going tickety boo, it is when we run into issues that the wheels can come off the trolley.
Knowing where to find information and tips and tricks can make the whole process run smoothly.
Have a great week.
Alex
*** you, too, Alex --- thanks again -- your insights are always much appreciated.... :) ***
Hi Cedric, I think that there might be quite a few of us that have taken upon his recommendation.
It seems to do the job, I like it very much.
Thank you for joining the conversation, how is your online journey going?
Alex
Hi Vicki, I have just come across it and I am impressed very user-friendly.
Thanks for sharing.
Do you use it hot off the press or with a page builder?
Have a brilliant week.
Alex

Oh, Alex....that's incredibly amazing! So much information that I wasn't aware of. Yes, I have Generate Press Premium. Obviously, I'd never get an A+ for seeking out information. In saying that, you gave me some excellent advice about 8 days ago and I haven't had time to look at it in-depth, yet.
As for vimeo - I heard of it a long time ago! I've just had quick peep at it and oh, what I've been missing is serious.
And, of course, I do know about Facebook. Not only do I have a personal page, but I also have 2 or 3 business pages. I receive messages from Facebook telling me how much in need of a post each page is!
Well, thanks very much Alex for all the information you have provided. It is great and will be very helpful for me when I'm ready to read and apply what's relevant to my websites.
Valerie
Hi, Valerie, if we can drill down a little we can save ourselves so much time and in doing so we can find a lot of information.
We can tailor that information to our needs, we can create so much more, productivity.
Vimeo can be a real gem, searching can be the issue if you use generic search terms, they tend to put up many unrelated search targets, that's why it can be best to get creative.
if it is done right it is possible to get into the core of some businesses.
The information in this post is how I tend to research, usually start here in WA, that search bar here is a treasure trove of info, just widen the search out there is always an answer to be found.
Thank you for stopping by Valerie, in a way Facebook is just giving you a prod, I recently had some pages depublished.
Alex
Thanks so much for your response to my comment, Alex. I will remember your advice when doing future research. I should be much more efficient at research considering the years I've been doing affiliate marketing. It's clear to me now that I don't have the amount of patience I thought I had. So it appears that my attitude requires attention!
Hi Valerie, I think in my case that I am a slow learner so tend to drill down into things, one of the forest things I look for is, does the program/platform have an affiliate program and build it from there on the research side of things.
In doing so we can pick up on a lot of tips and tricks that make life easier and at the end of the day we can create something that isn't half bad.
Thank you for your response Valerie and have a productive week.
Alex.
Hi Alex, I appreciate and value your response. I certainly can see where you are coming from with 'drilling down'. I take great pains to produce correct content but when it comes to doing research, I'm rather impatient.
I'm going to take a leaf out of your book!
Thanks so much, Alex. And you have a productive week, too.
