I wonder why

Sometimes I hear members say they are leaving Wealthy Affiliate, and I wonder why.

Some Reasons:

  • feeling overwhelmed
  • nervous about starting afresh
  • worried about what others think
  • time constraints
  • feeling pressured
  • hesitant about their market niche
  • much more varied reasons
  • Critics

What makes it worse?

You have done research online and found much generic information that does not relate specifically to your needs.

Or you have thought about packing it all in because it's too much of a mission and commitment.

Doubting Thoughts

Thoughts can nag in our head, saying "you're not good enough" with the technical aspects, and you don't know that much about social media, YouTube or email campaigns. Then you say to yourself, "What the heck am I doing here".

Time Constraints

  • Not enough hours in the day
  • How much time is taken up when setting up and running your new business from home

Hello Yvonne,

Thank you for your blog post, I trust you are doing well.

It's interesting that you asked this question as I often think exactly the same!

I believe that far too many people think that the Internet is a way to make money really quickly, it's not! I don't think people realise how much work you have to put into any business whether it's online or offline. However, I guess with an online business you probably have to put a lot of work in before seeing any results. Whereas, with some off-line businesses you can see results, potentially, more quickly.

The great thing is with an online business is that the setup fees are absolutely minimal. I can't think of a cheaper business to set up. I have an online and an offline business and although the off-line business makes more money, I see far more potential in the online business, it's just a matter of time!

I would encourage anyone who is struggling with their online business to never give up. It is possible to make money online!

Wishing you all the best Yvonne.

Roy

Thank you for your comment, much appreciated. With regards to set up fees, so many are unable to the $49 or $99 per month. If there was a fee say $29 per month it is a lower cost but people may able to stay in it longer.

Thank you for your thoughts Roy

Thank you for your reply, Yvonne, very much appreciated.

I feel a blog post coming on! I also think there are too many people perhaps trying to make money online without having a proper job!

The fact is that you can't really start an online business unless you have a job or you have money to back up your dream. With any business, we have to invest, so it's important to have money coming in each week.

If you have savings or are fortunate to live at home with your parents, then maybe you can start an online business. However, my guess is that there are very few people who have been successful without first having a regular job or money coming in.

When I look back to the success stories at Wealthy Affiliate, I believe that most people had a full or part-time job before they became successful online.

Have a great day.

Roy

That’s the main reason why I work Roy. We have a property investment business and my two Wealthy Affiliate websites. I was always told by many of my bosses when you see a good thing stick with it, you never know what’s around the corner.

Money seem to be the biggest factor.

Good morning Yvonne,

This sounds like a perfect setup to me, growing your off-line business while at the same time running your main business. I am doing exactly the same!

We live in the UK, however, my wife is from Greece, long term we would like to spend more time in Greece. This is where we could really benefit from an online business. In the meantime, I continue to grow the online side of things.

Have a great day,

Roy

Thanks for stopping by Roy and commenting. Greece is love to go there on day.

It's a pleasure Yvonne, there are some great and interesting people on the Wealthy Affiliate!

I can definitely recommend Greece, I can't compare it with the UK as the UK has some extremely beautiful places. However, Greece is kind of in a different Mediterranean category, with blue seas and skies and mountains, good food, good people and lots more!

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Roy

Hi Roy Both countries have different historical backgrounds which make both of them very interesting places to visit.

It's funny we talk so much about Social Media these days...I just can't seem to get the hang of it. How I learnt to get targeted traffic was way back in 2006 using Google Ads. I found a $47 one-time fee course that taught me all about it.

The information given in that course is still relevant today. Even though the course is no longer selling, I get loads of clicks to my site straight away. However, I fall down when it comes to landing page content.

I guess I have too much text in my posts? People click away from my site in droves. Because of that I stopped creating any content for 6 months, then decided I can make money in many ways not just affiliate marketing.

One thing I've discovered about being at WA for 3 years is this - the training sticks in your mind. Once you've built 2-3 websites, you feel that you can conquer the world.

So I decided to read success stories by WA'ers like Littlemama, Dylan Rieger, Jerry Huang, Eddy Solomon and Benjy's Dad.....There plenty of money to be made as long as you put the necessary work and time in.

So for those of you who want to earn £20,000 a month - It is doable....Webinar Funnels anyone? Take your pick...

Just Don't GIVE UP!!! There's plenty of GOLD in them there hills...

Stella

Thank you Stella for your informative comment. I agree reading about how the super affiliates have succeeded is awesome way to find out how they accomplished their goals. Never ever quit.

Always such a nice inspiration and great words!

Thank you

Great post, Yvonne and you have nailed it. There is another bullet point that can be added to your list, and that is the;

"The Shiny Object Syndrome"

I think it is one of the biggest reason for people leaving. People expect to see success virtually overnight, having a desert mirage in their sights. Causing a lot to jump on to promises of rapid success and so on.

I had such a moment around 4 to 6 months into this, and jumped on some "opportunities". Did those opportunities deliver? Not at all.
As an example, I joined up with a very renowned affiliate marketer, (I won´t mention his name here), in order to promote his affiliate programs, which was a DFY funnel for creating leads and sales......Did it work?NO! After a promising start, an upgrade of the system messed everything up

The reason was an unfinished product created by this person, with tons of bugs, and a support system that was virtually non-existent. Lack of essential information about the product, Lack of support, causing extra expenses on my behalf, not to mention all the time that I wasted, which could have been used to spend time on promoting WA and my niche websites.

I am still a member of his FB group, and they still have a lot of dissatisfied customers and still lots of bugs

Joining WA, We need to take time to understand that it is not a sandcastle we are building, is a big step towards "failure". We are building an online business. And building a business takes time.

WA can be feeling a bit limiting to some, and I can relate to that. No pun intended, but leaving, due to that reason, is a case of limiting belief, limiting your opportunities for an additional source of income.

I would be so bold to say that if that is the case, people miss out on a very good additional source of income in their portfolio. And to forget, it is a fantastic source of organic traffic to other products and services you have or are an affiliate of.

I will keep WA as an affiliate program I can promote in every niche I intend to do business in. It has a recurring commission system. It is a high ticket affiliate program as well.

I have a network on the WA platform of about 2K persons. That is 2K individuals that have chosen to follow me. That means that I have something they are looking for. I need to nourish that. I might have a solution to their pain points.

Of course, people leave due to other reasons as well. It could be that the hosting service is not what you are looking for, or you don´t want to build your own website.

This was a long comment, Yvonne. But your topic was very good 💯😃

As I wrote above, to me, I see no reason to leave the WA platform except, ending in a situation of personal catastrophe. The possibilities WA offers is only limited to our own mindest and creativity. Nothing else.

Wishing you a fantastic Saturday!
Roy

Thank you so much for your comment. I found your information very beneficial to my research. I am definitely going to add your shiny object to my list. Every one has contributed in such a wonderful way. I appreciate you stopping by and providing an insight into my topic. Thank you

You are welcome, Yvonne😊 I learn a lot from your posts as they often focus on the essentials to why we do what we do in online marketing. We often over-complicate the process, me included, instead of keeping it simple and wok the proven methods.

Roy

Thank you Roy for your supporting comment. I’m happy that my blogs help you in different ways. I really appreciate your response.

😊

Yvonne, put yourself in Dream Mode and think if that was somebodies else blog what would you want them to provide information about. I don't know if that helps, but it does with me as I do my walk every morning. Make up a scenario of a fictitious store/proposed client for a beauty saloon or selling affiliate make up goods or selling ultimate Kitchen knives. From that perspective you could come up with hundreds scenarios of Post to put online and never go away from your base thread and you could sell additional products. You might find that one of those scenarios get hot and want to open another site. Go get em!

Thank you for your comment, I agree there is plenty to write about, if you are prepared to do the hard work. All the best for success Ed.

Perfect words. However, after a certain point, WA ceases to have the value it has at the beginning. Don't get me wrong. WA was, for me, the beginning of my economic independence, and I learned a lot. Now, 2 years after I started my journey, my learning is done outside here. There are many concepts and new approaches that are not mentioned here at all. And leaving WA started to be an idea that has occurred to me several times.

I have already been forced to put one of my sites on another hosting provider. So I won't be here for long.

I guess I'm one of those people who are about to leave but not because of the reasons mentioned above. Not failure but success

I’m sorry to hear you will be moving on. finding new ideas and new ways, I do understand how essential it is to your business and I wish you all the best for success. Thank you for stopping by and responding.

Thank you, Yvonne. Wish you the best too
