I'm Joey from Central North Carolina (home of the North Carolina Zoo!). I was born in Tampa, Florida. We moved, when I was 5 years old (1973), to Anniston, Alabama and left there when I was 11 (1979). I've been here in NC ever since.
I've been interested in Affiliate Marketing for years. I've tried all the usual ways to make money online, including doing surveys for next to nothing and trying to get "hired" to work-at-home jobs. I managed to make about $1000 over 2 months with Leapforce, rating websites, before I was let go for no reason with no explanation at all. I also made $100 from Google AdSense, but that took me 2 years! I have decided to actually put in the time to learn and grow a real online business.
I'm 51 years old and a husband of 26 years (as of August 31, 2019) and father to 3 grown kids ages 23, 20, and 18. I was the baritone/lead singer for a Southern Gospel group for more than 25 years (starting in 1991). And singing is in my soul!
I also write fiction (since I was 16), mostly Speculative short stories (think Twilight Zone, The X-Files). I tried, for years, to get something published in magazines but never made it. So, I decided to go the 21st century way. I have one of my short stories published on Amazon. I even made the cover myself, which is pretty evident when you see it. LOL. It's called, "Self Portrait," and my author name is J. C. Phillips in case you want to look it up. It's listed at .99c but I'm going to make it free, add more stories and do a little promotion, which I haven't done at all so far.
I was diagnosed as Diabetic (Type 2) about 10 years ago. It's not an easy road but it is doable. It takes a lot of lifestyle changes and that can be just as hard on the family. I have been able to get my A1C down from 14 to under 6, near non-diabetic range. A big factor in that was losing over 50 pounds. Definitely a long journey there.
I am strongly passionate about Gospel Music, history (especially American history), as well as sports (mainly auto racing, basketball and Major League Baseball), and Science Fiction (yes, I am a Trekkie) specifically the classic stuff (although I do enjoy some newer stuff like The X-Files and Stargate). I have a Science Fiction blog but I didn't start it with the intention to make money. I also have a huge fascination in true crime, especially serial killers. I'm hoping to make my passions highly profitable!
I've heard a ton of good stuff about Wealthy Affiliate and I don't recall finding anything negative, except from those promoting other programs. (of course they would berate a better program).
I look forward to working with and interacting with everybody here at WA.
