Achievement success & a 2016 editorial calendar
I finished my editorial calendar for next year!!.
For the affiliate marketing & content management professional, an editorial calendar is a planning tool, a guide & a forecast model. It is invaluable for research, minimizes writer's block and controls that sick feeling when that comes up when a writer has an approaching deadline & no new ideas.
Just like every large task, break down the year into the months. Decide on a major or primary topic for the month. Then take it weekly & choose the content to publish.
I publish twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings after 9 am because that is statistically the best time to post content. Since I now have control over my schedule, I can avoid random posting and publishing errors like posting on a Monday, the worst publication day of the week.
I have better chance presenting a professional, well-designed product, and more control over online reputation by consistently posting on a regular basis.
Once I have an idea of how much content, I can determine when I need to have my research and drafts finished.
I always come across an article or a post somewhere that I want to keep. I read something that I don't want to forget or maybe refer to later in the year.
When I read something I might want to use later, I like to drop it into my OneNote Notebook. Personally, I like OneNote, but there are many other ways to preserve and recall research.
Readership & the search engines like consistency. They also like fresh content. Google is always looking for ways to improve content freshness.
In November, Google received patent protection for their latest freshness algorithm, which is said to affect as much as 35% of all internet traffic. Using an editorial calendar ensures that content freshness. It is another tool to help improve SEO rank.
You can Google editorial calendar; the search will bring up all sort of examples. There are several calendar templates in Excel format. The Chrome Web Store has several fancy editorial & social media calendar extensions.
I am lazy & I prefer the easiest method, so I went to my Outlook calendar & created something simple with color coded deadlines and publication dates.
Use what works for you. My recommendation? Do not to spend a lot of time figuring out how you want to do it.
Remember the objective is to make a plan, write it down and move on to the next important action item on your checklist.
I found that it was best to go somewhere & get uninterrupted time to think about how to achieve business goals. It is not necessary to rush, but it is also not necessary to make the planning process a major ordeal. I always try to complicate everything and make it more complicated than necessary.
I found it was best to keep things simple. My entire process only took an hour and a half or two hours. So it does not require a significant time commitment.
One of my 2016 goals is to launch a second website mid-January. I have further plans to grow additional sites in the future. As my affiliate marketing business grows, content planning will become even more important.
Weekly WA referral numbers, content publication & written editorial calendar are the tools that will keep me on track and achieve the 2016 business goals that I have set.
Use the time now, to plan next year's activity.
I think of the blessing that led me to my friends in the WA community. The night before I found WA, I was frustrated from trying to do it on my own. I was ready to spend $3,000 to join a mentor program with one of the best internet long term internet marketers.out there.
Something in the back of my mind said why don't you look one more time and see if there is anything else out there. That's when I found Wealthy Affiliate on the internet. I did not spend $3,000. Only invested $19 in checking out WA. . Today I eagerly pay $47.00 per month, and as soon as possible I will save the money and pay annually.
Everything in this system is tried, and it has been proven over time Today the system is so simple that all we have to to is follow the step by step instructions.
The real power of this program is the community. So take advantage. Participate, make friends, ask questions and definitely, pay it forward.
I wish you a very successful affiliate marketing year. You will see fantastic growth in 2016. It will be an exciting time in your WA affiliated business. I look forward to reading about your WA success in the future.

Hi, Yoder. Thank you for sharing your experience.I have a question, though.
I'm VERY new to the marketing/publishing thing so my personal experience is close to 0 and everything I know is from someone else's experience. So after reading your post I went to G to study this subject a bit deeper but I've found that there's no unity on that. You believe that Monday is the worst day to publish, though others believe it's the best (e. g. http://coschedule.com/blog/best-time-to-publish-a-blog-post/). Most people believe that weekends are bad for publishing but other evidences show w/e are good for social sharing.
I guess, I mean the following- did you test your results and against what criteria? I will appreciate your feedback, I'm trying to start my WA from the right foot.
Thank you. Kirill.
Hello Billy
First off let me welcome you to Wealthy Affiliate and thank you for your excellent question.
Community
It did not take you long to understand that Community is the real source of power in this program.
Community and the pay it forward culture, fostered by Kyle, Carson & everyone who contributes, create this environment that encourages healthy dialogue.
I want to commend you for questioning. Just because it is on the internet does not mean it is true. It is so important to fact check, and to question why. This is how great discoveries are made.
Freshness & Consistency
I was actually trying to connect with readers a little more on the how and why an editorial calendar is a useful tool in order publish content on a regular, consistent basis rather than random posting. Evidently I need to develop that thought little bit more. I wanted to emphasise freshness & consistent publishing.
Your Question
To reiterate, you are asking for citation & more information regarding the best time and day(s) to publish. I agree that there are many publishing theories out there.
Based upon my particular experience & what I have read, there seems to be a consensus that mid-week is the better time to publish.
Citation
Since I did not just pull that claim out of the air, I direct you to Blog Tyrant, Ramsay Taplin at
http://www.blogtyrant.com/best-time-to-publish-blog-articles/.
There are some statistical data that support the mid-week theory. If you are looking for a hard rule, however, I don't think you will find one.
Conclusion
Even though you have a statistical set of guidelines, you will still want to know how your specific market behaves & fine tune your publication schedule according to those data.
To get to know your market behavior, you will want to watch your analytics. For instance, let's say you run a sports blog, the metrics may indicate that a Friday-Sunday or a Friday-Monday publication schedule is the most appropriate. Fortunately, there are some very good plug-ins to help you analyze your traffic, bounce rate, conversions & more
Please let me know if you have any questions or additional thoughts. . I would enjoy hearing your thoughts.
Merry Christmas!

Hello, Yoder. Thank you for your reply and for sharing link. I came across this link when I was conducting my research and found it very interesting. I think, you're absolutely right saying that every blog needs individual testing and analyzing because a lot depends on the particular site's audience. I'll have to learn how to implement it on my site when I'll finally put it together :)
Thank you. Kirill.
Thank you, Krill
It is so good to talk to you. Please keep me in mind if you need anything else.
Best wishes for 2016.
Sincerely,
Yoder
Thanks '2' ;) I can get lost looking around the internet. I find so many things to keep me from doing what I need to do.
I have to have a written, stick it in front of me plan. It is the only way I stay on point.
I hope you find something helpful there.
Merry Chrismas.

It was a goal. An action item. I wanted to have a calendar with everything I wanted to post on Tuesday & Thursday next year, so I know what I have coming up. So yeah for me it was a goal.
I suppose the New Year's resolution will be to stick to the plan & follow the calendar.
Good question. Thanks.
