Hi everyone,

Since my site is brand-new and has no traffic yet, I don't want to jump the gun and sign up for Amazon Affiliates, as they will close the account if I don't

I was just about to ask the same thing!
I'm reading a lot of contrasting things about this topic...someone says it's ok, other say absolutely don't do it. I'm hoping for a definitive answer :P

From what I can gather, provided you link the picture to Amazon, then it's OK to use it.

I guess I have to read the amazon affiliate requirements... I didn't know they would cancel your account in x amount of days if you don't make a sale. Not sure how long it's been since I joined but Im sure I didn't make a sale yet...

I think you need to make a sale within 90 days or they terminate the account. You can always re-apply later.
I'm not opening an account yet as I want to see some traffic to my site before putting affiliate links in.

It is 6 months unless they have changed.

Thank you!

Yes, you are doing them the favor for free. No problem with it.

That's what I figured, thank you so much for confirming!

Are you saying we can download images from Amazon without the affiliate code? Maybe I am not understanding the question. I thought using images from Amazon without the affiliate code was a big no-no.

This is an issue we all face. Ask yourself how to start with Amazon? No traffic because the site is new. To have traffic you have to have posts. Cannot have posts without pictures. This is the chicken-egg problem, you have to break the rules somewhere. I am not telling you what to do.

Hi all, Idiot here who doesn't know anything about Google Analytics :) I have installed the SumoMe plug in, and went and signed up for a GA account. When I look at the results

Just to make sure for Google Analytic, you did put the tracking ID in your site, right? I don't use Sumome so I can't give any advice yet, but if Sumome is connected with GA, than make sure the tracking ID is placed correctly in your website :)

Cheers,
Ferdinand

Hi Ferdinand, thank you for answering. I have set up GA, it generates an ID number which I give SumoMe. Maybe I was supposed to put something else on my site. However, it is showing some spammy visitors I got a week or so ago... puzzling.

Hi Clare, as far as I know, you may need to place the tracking ID in your header.php. You can try to follow the training above to place your GA tracking ID and see if it makes any changes after a few days :)

I have just finished doing this, and I am hopeful that it might work! So far my site hasn't fallen off the web. So fingers-crossed it will work. Thank you for your help :)

I'm having the same kind of quandary. I have been trying to figure this out. I had installed YOAST and just now went back to All In One SEO and I'm getting some results. Could be I didn't have everything put into YOAST correctly and I'm not sure I'm out of he woods yet.
Best of luck to you figurine out what it is.

It's absurd. I know that there have been site visits today because I've sent a few people there. I've even had comments on the site. GA doesn't seem to notice these. I am using SumoMe and have no idea what I'm doing :)

Greetings all,

I have noticed that on some of my posts for example one that is ranked on page 8 of google, in the description it says "archive" - I wondered if this is s

Hi it could be that Google was fetching the first search result off your home page rather than the actual article which is why tags and archives are mentioned.

Just because you enter a specific meta title and description does not always guarantee that is how Google is going to index it. Majority of the time it will show as how you enter it but ultimately Googke is going to decide whether to use your or use their own auto generated description. No big deal

Ok thank you :) any idea why it wants to say "archive"?

The top example shows that Google is ranking your tags as well as your titles. That's good. I don't see the word "archive" in either screenshot.

Hi Marion, so it is good to keep tags in there? I took them out as I didn't like them so maybe they should be put back in? The Archive word comes just after the title "natural ways to treat cellulite Archives" - which doesn't make much sense to me? Thanks so much Marion!

I must have blinked because I missed it (◠﹏◠✿) Sorry 'bout that. Not sure why the word Archives appears. Are you using an Archive widget?

Yeah, put the tags back in because Google has just shown you that they matter.

On another note; why are you promoting someone else's website? http://cellulitesolutions.com/ Your website is "Cellulite Matters" and that should be the name you want people to remember.

Ah good point re the name of the website - maybe I should change it to Cellulite Matters after all. Will it make any difference if I change the title to Cellulite Matters since I've only got 4 posts on there? I don't want to be promoting someone else's site! :)

I always use my registered domain name on my sites. Do it now before you lose any returning visitors.

Hi all, just a quick question if anyone has time :)

Right now my front page is a blog roll, but eventually I want to put categories in as menu items so that blogs I write

What a great community! You guys ROCK!

It is your site and you can organize how you want but you can always link one part to another

I have categories and as you build your site with more content it provides a better user experience

I have some posts in 3 places. This is only internal organization of the site, aimed at helping visitors to navigate. Like putting several traffic signs directing travelers to one single place. See URL, it is always the same regardless where you put your post.

Thanks for the question and answers.

Good answers already.

Thank you all for answering this! I didn't think that actually since it's all pointing to the same URL, it's not considered duplicate.
THANK YOU!

Duplicate content is copy and paste. Menus and categories are not considered duplicate content.

Thank you Marion :)

And you are covered.
Ed

Having them in both is fine :)

Agree with shawn, they both will point to the same documents, so there is no dupe content to worry about. Go for it!

Thanks Shawn :)

Thanks Peej :)

You are welcome :)
