Three Years at Wealthy Affiliate

WOW ... I just got my 3 Year Wealthy Affiliate Badge ... time goes quickly!

I don't blog much here these days, although I did at the beginning when I first joined Wealthy Affiliate. When I started, I read and interacted with everything on WA ... immersed myself in the WA sub-culture ... made some friends, a few of whom are very helpful to this day ... and did not immerse myself in as much of the training as I should have :)

Standing 3 years ago I had a very different picture of where I would have been today compared to where I actually am now (that is not good or bad, it is just different).

Two things I found early on: 1) I hate blogging. 2) I tried to get my head around assorted niches but could never really settle on one. What that did give me, though, was some experience with different themes and issues that gave me some base knowledege of WordPress, SEO etc.

During the first year and a half on the Wealthy Affiliate platform I also spent a lot of time trying to figure out Social Media.

Life tends to bring up challenges and 2018 was one of those years where the focus was primarly on "just getting through it"!

In the background what had happened is that my wifes exercise business had be "chugging along" and we realised that we really might have something significant. I have just check and found we registered the domain name for this business in October 2017.

I hit 2019 running coming out of getting highly focused in December 2018 where we got clear on where we wanted to go with the fitness business. Between 1 January 2019 and 30 June we scaled the exercise 3X ... to give you an idea, some of our class have over 100 people in them, our average is around 55 and we a running over 90 classes a month.

We hit one of our key goals in June 2019 and moved to Bali, the Island of the Gods and opened business here with our daugher managing the physical business in our home State.

We run all marketig from our phones and laptops. We are getting over 150 new people a week in our classes! These are coming from a referral system that we have inplace for people to bring friends, constant contact to our customer/enquiry list of almost 20,000 (which we had started bulding from day one), average new 7 enquiries a day from organic Social Media, 15 a day from paid Social Media and the Website has now started producing 2 enquires a week.

I am particularly excited about the website because I have found a way that blogging can work for me and we are now ranking for 9 key words. I know that is not a lot for the big dogs here on Wealthy Afflliate but I can now see how to rank higher on Google and significantly increase blogs so that in 6 to 12 months from now, the website becomes one of our key lead generation componemts.

Just on that last point, I have seen how the Social Media platforms change over time and believe that Websites/Google have much more longevity than particular Social Media platforms with regards to Marketing.

An additional element that I am implementing in all Media, including the Websites and Social Media, is video/audio. In 2020 my thinking is that you will need video/audio content. The takeaway is to get over yoursef and just do it!

Finally a big thanks to Kyle and Carson for everything that they provide in Wealthy Affiliate that allows me, the little guy with no technical knowledge, to compete in the big dogs/gurus world.
