Hi there,

I don't know how different the posts you want to remove are from your more focused site but, if it's possible, I would edit and update those posts in such a way as to make them more relevant to your new focus.

Editing and updating posts is a totally legitimate exercise and you benefit from any links that the posts you're updating have already attracted.

I recently went through an exercise where I updated posts that I wrote specifically for the holiday period to make them relevant for any time of year. The subject, permalink and keywords are the same, but the text no longer focuses on the holiday period.

Cheers,

Martin.

Thanks, Martin, unfortunately, I'm talking i.e. relationship post vs. make money post. So, I don't see how I could make that relevant. But, instead of placing them as all drafts, I decided to leave them and make a special category for them and just from here on out, continue with my main focus.

The good news is the audience I'm talking to could still benefit from those posts. But, I'm looking more towards relevancy in Google's eyes. So I think if I just focus on the types of posts I want to write about now, Google will eventually know who I'm targeting.

I wouldn't actually touch them, as it still provides for a means for visitors to get to your website. I wouldn't delete them or anything like that.

The more doors to your website that you have, the better. Eventually, your website will have a lot more relevance as you add more posts to it.

I would just take my website into a new direction with new posts. I wouldn't worry about the posts I've already done.

Archive them. Se3 if your theme has provision for that. Or search for a plugin to instal for that purpose

Okay, so I have a question I asked in a Facebook group, but I'd love to hear what people in my WA family think. Here it is:

If your audience are liking the relationship posts better than the others I would concentrate on more of them and also on monetizing them.

Hi,
This is only a suggestion if you want to get away from those posts and move on to other posts. I would try and get some google juice from your posts that are high ranking by internally linking to them if you can.

Are you making money from those posts. As they could be just super helpful posts. Not sure as I don't know your blog.

If you are not monetizing those posts then write posts that will monetize this for you.

If they are hitting your relationship posts don't change that just start making different posts in a subtle way that are still relevant but guide them onto what you want them to do and internally link to those posts.

I am not sure what way you want this to go but I would definitely tap into those Keywords you use and link new posts to your high ranking posts.

Hope that helps a little not sure if it will. :))

Hi, Wendy, you have obviously hit a home run with your audience, one of the things that can be hard to predict is how an audience will relate to the content that we have created.

The thing is with that niche it will follow the age demographic, as children develop so does the mommy's, change with them.

Sometimes it can be helpful to take the long term view, in that your niche will grow and develop along with your audience.

If you are tending to get a polarization on content then it can be good to focus on internal linking, and get folks to explore your site.

Real gains can be made when you get returning readers and especially if they are tending to explore that content on your website, it also can give more opportunities to monetize by adding associated product.

Just a suggestion, you could create a Facebook page for your website and then create a related, Facebook group for the relationship side of your site, if it is a closed or private group you have the opportunity to create that intimate and focused conversation, mommies have that language of their own as they navigate those phases of their lives and building a community around your site will greatly enhance the traffic possibilities. Another thing is that you can reach our to other groups in your niche and comment as your page thereby further enhancing your reach and funneling traffic back to your site.

So long way of me saying stay the course., think long term, and create a strategy that best suits the flow of your site to reflect that commitment.

Your audience will and can dictate the flow at the end of the day and as long as you are comfortable with where the journey is leading you it is a win-win.

I would keep the same website with all of the posts. It helps you to get better ranking on google. But write more of what your audience wants to hear.

The other posts may mature in time and reach others who want what they have to give.

But most of all stay with one website as it is difficult to stretch yourself between 2 sites.

My 2 cents. Thanks for asking.
