I am wondering if I'm ever going to make any money here!

If someone promised me that I wouldn't earn anything for a year but if I produced 1-2 posts a week then after that year the money would start rolling in then I would be fine with that.

It's not like I'm looking for a get rich quick scheme here but just a little encouragement after 3 months would be great. Just a few quid to show me that it's working would be great too.

But I'm getting nothing and if anything my natural search visits are decreasing rather than getting better. I had 3 days last week with no visitors, after getting up to around 10-12 a day which is still very poor.

I know have 18 posts and 8 pages. All my posts use a keyword with a QSR of under 200, most are much lower and all have 1000-1500 words.

How many do I need before google starts bumping me up the search engines? As I said before I'm not looking for any miracles or the like just a bit of encouragement, a bit of light at the end of this very long tunnel!

It would help to be honest if I could see a lot of people on here who are making some good money, but they seem very few and far between. Most are very high up on the rankings here but don't seem to be making anything either.

A lot who have been here a good while now seem happy with a few pounds/dollars, how can this be? surely at some point this has got to start paying as all I can see is a massive amount of people all working so hard for a long time but getting very little back in return for their efforts.

I am really proud of what I have achieved, my writing has improved no end, I can type really fast now! and I have learned so much that has even benefited my main business. So the $47 a month is easily worth it so far but I wonder abut how long I can carry on forking out and seeing nothing come back.

I will carry on for another month at least and hopefully by then I will see some results even if it's a few pence..

I believe some of these reply might have answer your question or concern. I am in the same shoe as you but what i can say is that we have done the biggest part of the work. now what we need to focus on is the way to make the money. some of them is our presence online. keep it going and head straight we will begin to earn something soon. won't be long.

Hello. For my 2 cents worth and after 3 months aiming for organic trtaffic and it isn't working out too well for you I believe its now time for you to try some low cost PPC campaigns to test the water.

PPC doesn't need to cost the earth but you have to be very careful and choose the best possible Keyword for you Niche Site Content.
Enjoy your Sunday.
Robert

Thanks Rob I will look into that.

You enjoy your Sunday too!

No probs and do your research before you jump in.

The only thing I can add after reading the below comments is: Are you really passionate with what you have to offer? Do you want to be a leader in this industry that people turn to? Lastly if you were to learn guitar, how long would you give yourself to become a competent guitarist? Just some 'other' things to think about....

I am passionate about the low carb high fat diet as I've lived on it for 4 years now and find it so easy to stay in shape despite eating vast amounts of food. I'm also able to play football (soccer) and weight train on it 2-3 times a week as I did before.

So I know it works and have seen so many people improve their health and well being dramatically on it.

I guess I do think "why would anyone listen to me, when there are so many others out there more qualified then me"

As I've said before it's the drop in visitors that has made me question why I'm putting in the effort when I could be putting that extra time into my main business.

Thanks

Wayne

Then you only need to give it time to develop and keep being 'out there' because there are so many fly by night businesses...

Hi Wayne

A couple of questions if I may

1. Who is your target audience, specifically ? ( I think I might know the answer but would like you to confirm this .)

2. What are you doing to drive traffic to your site besides relying on Google ?

I suppose my target audience are people who have struggled to lose weight and go from diet to diet making the same mistakes.

My mother is a perfect example of someone who eats horrible fat free tasteless food but is never able to keep the weight off.

I also want to show them how to introduce exercise into their eating regime as that is what I've done for the last 18 years.

I use google+, pinterest, twitter and facebook but struggle to get followers

Thanks

Wayne

Ok, that is what I thought and probably covers anybody who has tried to lose weight. The slimming sector is huge with some really big well established companies in there which would be very difficult to compete with (Not impossible, but difficult).

The best way to achieve success in this sector for the smaller player is to narrow down your target audience. Losing weight after childbirth,
Weight loss for men over 50, weight loss for the young teenage male.
That sort of thing. You need to be able to really speak to your audience. They need to feel that you understand THEM and their problems, very difficult to do on a global scale.

The way you would write for a young mother would not strike accord with a 55 year old male. They both have different concerns and most likely different reasons for losing weight.

Once you know who your target audience is you can then concentrate on driving traffic from where those people hang out. Do young teenage males use Facebook much theses days or have they migrated to twitter and instagram for example. There is no point wasting time and resources driving traffic from sites that are not frequented by your target audience. A bit like having a surf shop in the Alps, ok you might get some skiers who are also surfers but that is not where most will hang out. As far as I am aware ; )

I have not researched the weight loss niche so my examples were just plucked out of the air. However the message is that you need to be more focused with your target audience and then adjust your site imagery etc to match.

Hope this helps.

Dave

It does take time, in relation to visitors dropping off this last week I think a few people are noticing that. Google had an update recently and seems to be reindexing sites which might be throwing figures off slightly, these are just blips so long as you keep adding content.

In the beginning consistency is key, unfortunately Google doesn't really notice websites until they have around 50 posts then there will be a slight shift or a domain of over 12 months.

The problem with low hanging keywords is that traffic is also very low so it needs quite a few of them to make an impression on your site visitors figures, just keep going at this stage.

Hi I just had a look at your website and i like it, its clean and eye catching with some good articles.I noticed you did not have any social sharing buttons on it like FB and Twitter etc. You need to give people the opportunity to share your stuff. Social sharing is very powerful.
Also set up a facebook page and a pinterest page start engaging with others to get eyes on your site and i cannot tell you the importance of setting a google+ page. Pick up your best article and post to google+ with a good keyword in the heading, i got to page 1 in under 24 hours just posting to google+. Above all else dont give up, keep tweaking nd keep doing. You will get there.

Thank you Shaz!

I did have the social sharing buttons on but I have no idea where they've gone so will put that right!

I have the following accounts but struggle with followers

https://plus.google.com/106468857035775170330 doing ok with this and I make sure I +1 peoples posts each day
https://uk.pinterest.com/waynesidaway/ no followers!

many of the social media sites are like the WA. IF you like and follow them, a certain percentage will Like and Follow you..

Hi Wayne
With Pinterest you need to start following others within your niche
once you start following them, they follow u back. Start pinning some weight loss recipes and pics from other boards onto your weight loss board, dont forget to add your website url to the board. try to aim to pin and follow at least 10 per day. I think someone did a tutorial on pinterest and how to use it. Do a search for it.
Good luck

the how to loose weight niche is very competitive, the trick is to find an angle into it that's not so competitive. I dont know what those angles are because I'm not in that niche. But just as an example: how to loose weight for the elderly, kids, obese, unmotivated, lazy people etc. Trying to target words like "how to loose weight" is going to take you a long long time to out rank the competitors. Even with low QSR (under 50) it may even be a struggle in the beginning because the pages already ranked on page 1 may have huge authority, amazing content etc.

These are things you must understand in order to outrank them. Knowing your competition. These are just my thoughts and observations over time. Understand keywords, competition, what google wants etc 100%, learn everything you can about online marketing and success may just creep up on you. This stuff does work, but you gotta dive into wanting to know everything. why this, why that how come this etc and find out those answers.

Thanks Josh
I was under the impression from the training that anything below 200 QSR is ok. But in reality this is not always true?

I think I need more training on keywords from the sounds of it!

I haven't been on WA for very long, but I have websites that are 4+ years old.
Organic traffic takes time. For some of those keywords, you may rank within a month or so. But quite a few of them take time to displace the page 1 sites.
If your site is three months old, or so, then it is still a fairly young site and it will take big G a little bit to rank the site. Keywords are only One small part of ranking websites.

The thing is people quit this business because they don't see results fast enough, when success maybe just around the corner. So that's why I suggest minimum QSR as possible and understanding that numbers are just numbers. Go out and analyze the competition for those keywords.

My fist organic money "rolled" in after 6 months, before that it where purchases of friends and family.
I have multiple websites and a total of 410 post and pages published.

When my 5 year old nephew came home from his first day of school
he was very disappointed and said he was not going back. Why?.
Well because he had been there all day and he still couldn't read or write!
Have you finished all of the training? Do you understand and use keyword research the WA way? I've seen your site and although it 'looks' good I would say that your keywords might be way too competitive to expect rank/sales.
Janelle

Hi Janelle, thank you.
It's the fact that my organic visitors are decreasing and not increasing that's really bothering me. I 'think' I understand the keyword tool hence why I am targeting words/phrases with a low QSR. Do you hink I should go even lower like

Well I look for under 100 qsr.
Healthy artificial sweeteners was 110.qsr which is close enough.
On your site I didn't see any products to buy, or recommended products or a call to action. I didn't see any affiliate links
I did see AdSense ads, which are unrelated to the topic and which I ignore.
So where do you plan for the money to come from? Sorry but i cant see it. J
PS . Maries comment is accurate.
Pps until I read your explanations below, I didn't realise your site was about ' eat fat get thin'. I thought it was just another healthy eating site...which is too broad.

I know how you feel. I have been here for two and a half months, have 27 blog posts, and traffic seems worse this month compared to last month. And I agree, there does seem to be a lot of people here with high rankings and not earning money. I am not afraid of working hard and consistently, and I do understand that my site is an extremely young site in googles eyes, but I feel at some point you just need to get something back. Hoping you get some good replies here!
