Solution for Stress

There are so many answers on the net and many of them are very good.

Most of them have one fault: they look at stress as a symptom of other ailments, other problems.

Stress is the cause.

Stress is the cause of a lot of problems. It raises the level of the stress hormone, Cortisol, which in turn causes our bodies and mind to go into a state which is difficult to control.

I have a technique which I have found, over the years, works for me.

What is the Problem of my stress?

  1. Too much to do.

  2. A feeling that I do not want to do any of it.

Too Much to Do

  1. I do a bog-standard list of what is Urgent and what is not.

  2. Take the urgent list and pick one thing which will take me the least time.

  3. A clean sheet of paper or a blank text document and write the one item at the top.

The Feeling

  1. Tell myself that I can do this one item.

  2. Imagine myself doing it and feeling really good afterwards.

  3. Focus on only the first part of the action.

  4. Take a deep breath, breathe out slowly and

  5. Start.

  6. Do or read something funny.

What to Avoid

Do not read this if you already know.

Repeatedly telling yourself things like:

1.”There is too much to do.”

2. “I am stressed / depressed / overworked / too hot” etc. By repeatedly telling ourselves these things, they become true and we get more stressed.

3. “I can’t….”

Grandmas and Eggs

I know there is nothing new here. I understand that I may be suggesting things that you already know.

In the heat we have been experiencing in the UK it has been difficult to sit and concentrate at times.

Things can stack up quite quickly. So take it easy and remember this quote:

“The longest journey begins with the first step.”

My Hope

Some of you may find some support in this technique and go on to feel happier and more relaxed.
