A to Z Analogy: Cake

In my A to Z Analogy, I will take places, things and people and relate them to developing our online business. This is just for fun, but perhaps, you'll be able to see something from a different perspective.

Today's Analogy: C for Cake

DOESN'T THAT JUST LOOK SCRUMPTIOUS!!!

Now, for those who have read a few of my posts, you know I make references to cake often. But no need to worry, I don't eat cake everyday for breakfast..I may think about eating cake everyday for breakfast, but I don't eat it...honest!

So...Cake and Wealthy Affiliate

The basic ingredients of most cakes are flour, sugar, eggs, milk, perhaps water, maybe some vanilla extract and spices like nutmeg or cinnamon. Imagine you put each ingredients in a separate bowls, and then you tell your loved ones to come to the kitchen in an hour for cake. For some, that may very well be the longest hour of their lives!

An hour has passed and everyone gathers together, anticipating their first bite into a creamy, rich, and moist cake. The plates are set and they just wait for a big slice to be given to them...

But, instead, there's no cake, just the ingredients in their separate bowls.

You had all the ingredients, but where's the cake?

In order for it to take shape, all the ingredients have to be placed in the same bowl, whisked together, then baked. Sugar added to the bowl of eggs would be incredibly gross; the water and flour would just make a gooey mess. All ingredients are needed - in the right amounts - in order to come up with anything that resembles a delicious cake.

What are the ingredients we have at Wealthy Affiliate?

A cup of the Certification Course, a bowl of Bootcamp, a pinch of posts, tablespoons of tutorials just to name a few. Granted, you don't need all these ingredients everyday, but you will definitely need a variation of them to bake your "cake".

One of the things Kyle mentioned in his first webinar a few years ago, something he stressed, was to follow the training without skipping steps. I don't really know the importance of vanilla extract, but from what I understand, to eliminate it when the recipe calls for it is not a good thing.

What have you extracted from your training? What ingredients have you decided are just not that important in your training?

Side Note: I decided to do this analogy last week, so, for better or for worse, you have me for another 24 more days! Take a look at FTurner8032's Alphabet Analogy posts for a different perspective:

Your comments are always appreciated. Go...have cake...just not too much. and always...

Strive to Thrive,

Veronica

Phil, you always see to make your way to my posts. Thank you for your encouragement!

Great analogy Veronica! Excellent way to lecture, and fine points to remember.

Thank you so much, Louisa!

You're Welcome Veronica!

I loved reading this post Veronica. I think what's especially important when it comes to getting the cake you want is following the recipes instructions step-by-step and not deviating. This is definitely my focus for 2018.

Absolutely, Mark! I think it's a point that needs to be repeated often! I was fortunate enough to know what I didn't know when I joined with WA, so I followed everything, step-by-step.

But after you've been here a while, it's easy to feel so strongly about doing it your way. But there's something we should ask ourselves when we become so stubborn:

How has your way been working for you?

Excellent analogy my friend, thank you. Now I want cake, lol.

To install that desire was my master plan all along, Dawn!

Another great analogy Veronica and a very good way to look at it as well. I think that wee bit vanilla extract is like the cherry on the cake that if you omit it then what you have made will just not be as good as what you may have achieved previously and will therefore make people think about what did you do that was different to not make this the same as the rest.

Ahhh...I've always been tempted to leave it out, but then fear takes over and I just submit to the cake maker masters!

If it tells you to use it then never leave it out as it is listed there for a reason, just like the training here at WA, if you miss something out you can get all confused further down the line. xxx

Yummy Article!
I had to eat a cake!
I am guilty of a very bumpy, uneven and variational course following due to the scarcity of time at my disposal. I don't think any ingredient is unnecessary.

I think that's the best argument for eating cake that I ever heard, Riz!!!

I would say it was intelligently crafted to induce me to eat a cake. Luckily only one was available in the kitchen.

You people in this A to Z analogy are brilliant.
I think you people really do justice to Wealthy Affillicake.
You make writing look like a piece of cake!

David

"Affilicake"...now that's brilliant!

Great post and analogy. I think I am guilty of adding extra ingredients which might be not so good sometimes. The exact recipes very often work better, especially when you are just a rookie.:)

Well said, Vera! The recipe is not a suggestion!

Yep!:)

We can have our cake and eat it too! Your point is taken..we have all the ingredients for success.
Debbie

In the words of the former President Barack Obama...Yes We Can!!!

My blog posts use many of the WA content ingredients Veronica!

Of course you do...you're Papa!

LOL Waddie gal!!

Oops...I meant "you" not "they". I just corrected it...it's you because Papa knows best!
