Hi everyone!
I'm wondering about the necessity of buying a personal domain (a domain with my own name). In "normal" cases I can see why you would want to do that but I have
Greetings
It sounds like you love your name as you should just as myself and most others do. So I would go for it just for the love and preservation. You may think of some powerful way of using it later.
Agreed, but since no one else shares my name I don't have to worry that someone might buy that domain.
It's entirely up to you... Do you want it? If so, sure... buy it :)
There's no real advantage or disadvantage, but if ever you plan on freelancing or doing something like that then it could be a good place to showcase your work :)
Heck, you could even build an online resume on it for future employers using the skills you learn here at WA :)
Hi Michel, I hope you are well and having a great day.
Personally, I did buy my name and there is something cool in having an email address with your name in it.
As for the business website, I am not building a business under my own name. The reason for this is that in the future after building up the business I do have plans to sell and, in my opinion, it would be more challenging to sell a website where I am the focal point. So, having a name like Online Income News for my site it will be easy for anyone to take over the site as the brand is not me.
To answer your question, it really depends on what you plan to do with your domain name. If you want to build a brand around your name then definitely you need to buy it however if this is not the case and bearing in mind you don't have a common name it may be worth waiting until you feel you really need it.
Wish you much success!

Hi Moni,
I'm having a great day and I hope you do also!
Your thoughts are much like how I reason about it. I consider my first website to be sort of a training ground; it's still a niche I really like, but I am going to start a new one further down the road and my goal is to sell that business website.
I just wanted to be sure I didn't miss some important aspects of having my personal domain. Your answer confirms that I'm thinking in the right direction.
Have a wonderful day Moni!
Michel
Yes buy it. Even if you don't use it yet, my take is to keep it for either personal branding/blogging or for fun.
You may be able to use it for business too
Thank you for your answer!
Ok, I'm going to consider buying it in the near future. For the moment I'm focusing on my newly started page.
Have a great day!

It could be in the future if I'd like to brand myself, and if I didn't have a unique name I'd probably buy it now. But since I'm not worried about that someone might buy that domain, I can't really see why I would want to have a personal domain at this moment.
I was thinking that maybe there's something else I'm missing with having a personal domain, but reading the answers I feel like it's primarily for self-branding purposes. Or am I missing something important?
Greetings

Less than the cost of one good meal--worth it in my opinion!
