Taking Advantage of Amazon Customer Reviews

There is no way I could purchase every item I promote on my website. I am referring to my dog training site where I promote Amazon products related to dog training, and/or the care of a dog.

Reading Amazon customer reviews is a great help in deciding whether or not I promote a product.

To be able to show some of the reviews on my site would be very helpful.

BUT……

I am well aware that I cannot copy and paste any part of those reviews to my website.

However, I recall hearing or reading that it is permissible to take a screenshot of Amazon customer reviews and insert them in a website.

Do you know whether this is correct? I would be grateful to receive your comment.

Thank you.

Enjoy your wonderful life. It is precious!

I didn't post anything like this until now. However, I did post a few links to things which have nothing to do with me.

Thanks very much Eric for your comment :)

I think working them into your review is safest. I will research this further because I have made screenshots.

I will hold off on doing that in the future until I find our for myself what Amazon will allow.

That's a very wise decision Cynthia. Amazon takes a very serious view of even the slightest error on the part of an affiliate.

Hopefully either you or I will find the correct answer soon.

Thanks so much for your comment :)

This doesn't answer your valuable question, Valerie, but if our goal is to post original content on our websites and as you stated you read the comments to decide whether to promote a product or not, it seems to me that you don't need to quote the comment, but rather work it within your review. I read comments and I've found I can summarize them as part of my review -- just my 2 cents :)

That is how I do it as well.

Thanks very much Sharon for your help. I do summarize the comments but, because I had heard or read about inserting screenshots of Amazon customer reviews but cannot re-locate that information, I thought I would ask the community.

I am grateful for your comment because what you say fits in line with what I've been doing for quite sometime. I was looking for more! From the responses it appears to be a current issue, in general.

Hi there,
Thanks for posting this question
I would love to hear the definitive on this...
Would it be worth sending Kyle or Carson an enquiry on this topic ?

Cheers again
PB

Thanks very much for leaving your comment.
I will try to connect with Kyle or Carson on live chat.
I'm not too keen on sending them a message, as they have so much else to deal with.
However, I might send Jay a message. I know he is very busy too, but I just might get an answer from him.

If I find the answer, I will definitely let you and other members interested know the verdict!

As far as I know this is not allowed. I used to have screen shots of reviews when I first started at WA and someone told me you cannot take a screen shot of anything on Amazon.

Unfortunately I can't link to this information because it was over a year ago. The best way to get an answer would be to start a live chat with one of the reps and ask them.

What I do know is base my information on what I read in the reviews. Then I add a button that says "read customer reviews" and link it directly to the Amazon review page for that product.

If you want to see an example let me know and I'll add a link to one of my articles.

I know for sure you cannot take screen shots of the star ratings because those change. It's like you cannot list prices for Amazon products because they change as well.

Thanks very much Tanya for your detailed comment. I very much appreciate it. I would be grateful for a link to see how you refer your readers to customer review.

I will keep an eye on live chat to see if I can see Kyle, or one of the other leaders. I have never seen them on live chat which is probably due to time zones. I am in NZ.

Thank you very much Tanya for sharing your link. I greatly appreciate your help. I tested the method on my site and I see that the my affiliate ID wasn't included in the link. Do you know if that is correct? If it correct then there is the chance of losing the visitor!

Are you using the Amazon site stripe to get the text link? That should be the only option when link to the review page.

Here is a screenshot of what I am talking about.

Thanks very much Tanya for your wonderful help. No, I wasn't using the site stripe. I don't know why because I use it frequently. Whatever the reason, you have helped me tremendously Tanya and I am very grateful to you. Thank you :)

Glad I could help you out Valerie! I know what it's like to be struggling and that feeling of finally getting something figured out!

It certainly was a relief Tanya. Thank you :)

I have customer reviews on my site. I have copied and pasted a few reviews from amazon to my pages and I've also added a link to the amazon review pages so a visitor can see that they are genuine. Feel free to take a look at my website to see what I'm talking about. www.powerfulherbalremedies.com. The reviews are towards the bottom of the page. I hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks very much Rosemary for the information and for the link to your website. The way you inserted those reviews is very subtle. No-one would know where they came from. You have a very nice website and I see you are a Melaleuca lady! I was too, a few years ago. Their products are amazing but it was difficult to convince others!

Thanks again, I appreciate your help :)

Hi Valerie

I'm glad it was helpful to you. Yes I am a Melaleuca lady. I know what you mean about the difficulty in convincing others. That's where I'm at now. :)

It definitely was a help Rosemary. And, I sincerely hope you do well with Melaleuca. Their products are absolutely 'tops'. Stay with it if you can!

Good question.

Thank you. If only we could find an answer!

Oj, good question . I need this answer too

Thanks Mark. Still waiting, but good things are worthwhile waiting for. Lol!

I'm with Steve. I would like to find out. Please let us know. Thank you.

Yes Pablo, we have to wait patiently for that answer. I'll make sure you know when we get it!
Thanks for leaving your comment :)

This would be nice to know.

I agree Steve! Thanks for your comment, and here's hoping we find an answer :)
