Grammarly makes errors
So this is just a little light relief in your long hard working day.
There I was typing in comments and as usual, Grammarly loves to check my work and give me suggestions.
Sometimes I take the suggestion and sometimes I ignore them and think that Grammarly doesn't have all the answers.
But I have never experienced Grammarly being confused. First one bit of advice and then when you take Grammarly's advice Grammarly changes back. This is what we would call a never ending loop or a Catch-22.
Look at the images and see if you get confused too:
So back and forth I go with no end in sight - then you may be wondering did I use the comma or did I leave it out? The suspense is killing you, isn't it? I was going to use Clint Eastwood's quote but I thought that would be overkill (pun intended)
I left the comma in - did I hear a huge sigh of relief?
The sun shines on those who see it.

Yeah, that's happened to me too a few times. Also, it does not recognize some names or newer, more technical words
Grammarly is not the most reliable tool. I wrote a post on 1st October last expressing my opinion. Grammarly has it's uses for those who are not confident with the English language. But Michael, as your post today reveals, Grammarly can lead as into anything other than temptation! Meaning, we are not tempted to rely on this tool.
LOL! You've got that in a nutshell, Valerie. Still, for some people, it's an absolute must because, without it, we will unleash a hoard of pigeon English writers, LOL!
LOL's right!! But yes, I have to agree with you Michael. Maybe we could invent the perfect tool! Now that's a thought. I've always wondered if there was a product I could produce. With your Steampunk skills and my Admin+ whatever, we could go into business! LOL!!
We could of run a sweep stake Michael, lol. I have noticed the same thing grammarly can get confused.
This happens to me all of the time. It is is a wonderful tool and is ON all of the time, on both computers, but you can't just take the first suggestion it gives you and, after it makes a correction for you, it may just change its mind, just like we do!
Yes, it does make errors so you have to edit Grammarly's edit of your edit.
You are walking a fine line here. You mess up and the Grammar Police will be knocking on your door in comments and private messages. Be careful.
Huge sigh of relief.
Comma before and after Mary is correct.
Whew!
I would not be able to sleep if you had chosen the incorrect punctuation!
If you are ever stuck on a grammatical issue, I can help.
If you are stuck on a technical issue, I am useless.
Fun post!
Thank you for sharing your discovery!
Susan
ROFL! Thanks, Susan! I will be forever indebted to you for your invaluable support - this is life and death stuff here not to be sniffed at! :)

Hahaha, I had the same thing last night, so I decided to go with my gut feeling. I call Grammarly Elsie when she corrects me, sometimes I ignore her as it does not sound right. Elsie can also be wrong as she is only a software program, done by a human beeing.
You are absolutely right, it's only a software program and it still needs tweaking. Thanks, Sylvia.

To comma or not to comma ...that is the question. Ha
...or the punctuation. :)
