In Search Of The Lost Chord

'In Search Of The Lost Chord' is the title of an album by The Moody Blues, just in case you didn't know. I suspect many of you did. It amazes me that it was released over fifty years ago in 1968. A group that had a lot more to offer than just 'Knights In White Satin' which most of us know.

Today we're going to try an exercise of 'Let's see where this goes'. I don't very often have the chance to play this game. In fact, apart from the articles for the 'random' site, it must be at least six months. That's not a bad thing, it shows I am a little more organised with my subject matter.

If anything, this will show that you can find inspiration in near enough everything, if you look for it. This should help those who find themselves struggling for content ideas. I sure you can find a tenuous link in there somewhere to justify it having a place on you site. If not, then just write anyway. That's what we do, isn't it ? If you're a poet, then you write poems, if you're a musical artist, then you can write songs and artists put their thoughts into pictures.

When you're a 'blogger', you write. Simples.

I was introduced to 'The Moody Blues' by chance. It's not a funny story, actually it's quite sad, though it was a long time ago and life has moved on, leaving the pain where it belongs, in the past. That's actually 'on point' as the quote I put up on Facebook this morning was:

“When the past calls, let it go to voicemail, believe me, it has nothing new to say.” Unknown.

My friend had come home from work to find that his wife had left him, taking the children with her. I knew nothing of the circumstances that led up to this and still don't. Stuff happens in life and there's usually more to it than meets the eye, at first glance. All I could do was offer an ear and a place to go when the thought of going back to his house was too much to bear.

It was on one of those occasions that he brought round a few albums (Not that he had anything against my own choices of music, you understand) and I was formally introduced to Justin Haywood and friends.

We'll see if this ties in somewhere but I have a feeling that it won't, it was just where my mind went. Thoughts can be like that. We can sometimes trace them back to the source but not always.

I have a number of notepads, scattered around the place, so I thought I would take a wander through the annals of time and see if anything jumped out at me. Now that sounds simple but being a member of the 'OCD Club' means that you have to do whatever you're doing in a certain way, obviously this depends on your level of membership.

It meant that I had to start at the beginning and wasn't allowed to 'cherry pick'. I don't mind, it makes life just that little bit more interesting at times. First page before me and what do I see ? I've put a photo in, just so you know I'm not making it up.

"You're already broken, no one can fix you. There's no point in playing the game"

Hey, you can see it with your own eyes. My problem is, that I don't remember writing it, no

surprises there. I really should put notes in the margins for my notes.

Is it a lyric form a song I had heard ? Doesn't seem to be, I had a good search and found nothing close. Maybe it just 'came' to me, possibly. I mean, it's not a bad line and probably quite poignant, if it had some context.

I searched high and low, crossed rivers deep and mountains high and came up with zip. It was around this time that I remembered 'In Search Of The Lost Chord'. In our own literary terms we came full circle and all was well with the world. One phrase became 700+.

If you recognise those words, then please let me know, I won't be losing any sleep over it but it would be nice to package the whole up and put it away. Just for good measure, before I go, don't forget the three questions.

Today was not a manic Monday but it was a productive one and I hope yours was too.

Twack Romero.

Nice post Twack!
I’m fairly competent at research and could find nothing matching your note, it must be an original “Twackism.”
As for the other quote I’m definitely copying that for future reference as I find myself too often missing times, things, people, etc. from my past. I need to learn to let them all go.
Luckily music from the past is still accessible, and Moody Blues are among my top favorites. It’s amazing how many memories a song can trigger the brain to recall.
Thanks for sharing the journey!
KyleAnn

Thank you KyleAnn, I really appreciate you taking the time to 'research'. Looks like it goes in the folder then. I wish I had the context though.
Sound and smell alike are both strong triggers. The smell of 'Lux' soap, instantly transports me back 45 years.
I think the Moody Blues were another one of those bands that were ahead of their time.

I was actually convinced that it was the title of an album by Status Quo - but that turned out to be "In search of the fourth chord"

If it helps - I often go back over my notes and wonder what on earth I was talking about in them!

Dave

That made me laugh Dave, it reminded me of school, we used to rip into one lad because of his love of 'Quo' and their lack of chord variations, still, it worked for them. Good times, thank you for that.

Do you really have to? It's not enough that you have to go through the torture that you place the concientous through it with you... ah well so be it then! What are friends for if they don't choose to go down the less trodden path with you...;)

The quote rang a bell but couldn't quite place needless to say it has me perplexed for hours...I too immediately discounted lyrics and now ready to conclude it is something that a boy or girl, man or woman for that matter would say after a love gone wrong and we would probably find it in one of those endless 'broken sayings'....thats my best conclusion thus far however I'm a great believer in when the facts change then I change my mind!! ;
R.

Thanks for the support Rami, the more of us that tread the less trodden path, the better.
It will make itself apparent at some point, I'm sure.

Hey Twack,
Your welcome friend..I am certainly a believer of that and have trodden that path all my days thus far not about to change apparent at some point it will become....when is another subject for debate!! ;)

Have a great day!!

R.

You too Rami.

Thank you Twack I will try!!
R.

The things you produce continue to amaze me. Yes, my Monday has been productive.

I will take that Fran, thank you. I find a good Monday sets oneself up for the week.

My Monday was and still is Twack, but I'm not looking for the lost chord--LOL! Have a great evening, my friend!

Thank you Jeff, you too.
Every day is a good day and today was no exception.
