A Game Of Two Halves (Part Two ?)

I always remember the title being attributed to a football pundit, though I am sure it has been used over and over again by many people.(Just as a footnote, this isn't part two of a post entitled 'A Game Of Two Halves' but we'll get to that shortly)
It's one of those quotes that might be found in a book of cliches but I prefer to think of it coming from the mouth of Jimmy Greaves, along with a few other classic 'stating the obvious' lines.
There used to be a collection of commentator 'gaffes' called 'Colemanballs' named after the late David Coleman, who was a sports commentator. I mean, if you're in the commentating game, the chances are you're going to 'drop the ball' occasionally.
"and for those of you who are watching in black and white, the pink is next to the green." That was a classic from 'Whispering' Ted Lowe, lovingly known as the 'voice of snooker'.
All of this leads me to the point where I shall complete Thursday's post 'Suck It Up Buttercup' of which a portion was about ideas that can be used if you're trying to build a following. Sadly, I only managed two of the five.
Still, I'm all about tying up loose ends, so I'd better get on with it. The first two we covered were to do with being active on both Quora and Reddit.
The third will probably not be everyone's cup of tea (this actually ties in quite nicely with the quote at the end. Look at that for planning ahead π) but it is actually a very good idea.
Join relevant Facebook groups. There it is, out in the open. Well, if you're looking for either like-minded people or those who might be interested in something you have to offer, it's a good place to 'hang out'. As with the previous two, you are looking to add value to the group and not just 'spam' everyone with your links.
It's also the perfect place to see what the 'pain points' are within whatever niche you are in. There's also a very good chance there will be opportunities to answer questions and show yourself to be a reliable and trusted source of information.

It's not best practice to just jump in with "No, that one's no good, this one's better". All in good time, all in good time.
The next one is outside my area of expertise, well it would be if I had one. It's to do with Instagram, which as yet, I haven't engaged on. The recommendation is that you should comment on relevant 'Hashtags' and leave responses.
Please feel free to add to that one, as I have nothing. It is worth getting into though, as it's another platform to push your online presence.
That brings us to number five. Again it's something that we are told time and time again to utilise but for many, it's quite a bit outside of their comfort zone. YouTube videos.
Quite a daunting prospect, though one of the notes I have by this one is 'simple'. It doesn't have to be a Hollywood blockbuster. Many of the top 'YouTubers' just use their phones and not much else.
Never underestimate how interesting you are to someone else. I remember that not long after I started here, Tiffany (@TDenise formerly TDomena) did a post that told of her doing a 90-day YouTube challenge.
I'm Doing a 90-Day YouTube Challenge (and it's a little scary)
It's not a bad place to start if you've been thinking about putting yourself out there. I seem to remember a few members got on board with it at the time.
Well, that's your five. I seem to have another page of notes but we'll save those for a future post. I have tied up one loose end at least.
I mentioned earlier that I would put a quote at the end that was relevant to the Facebook idea. I have a feeling that there will be those that will side-step anything to do with certain platforms because of previous bad experiences.
All I would say is that you shouldn't let the past stand in the way of your future. I heard the following as I was starting to write this post and thought it quite fitting. It was part of the dialogue in a TV show one of my sons was watching.
"Scars tell us where we've been, they don't have to dictate where we're going"
Good old Agent Rossi. Right, I'd better leave you in peace and start dinner. I've managed to pick up some fresh salad and that makes me happy.
Enjoy your weekend as only you know how my friends and remember to stay safe, healthy and happy.
