6 Reasons Why People Fail

I could just leave you with the picture, it's one of the best images that came up when I searched for the word 'fail'. I am also sure that there are more than 6 reasons why people fail, so feel free to add to the list.

This isn't a transcript but rather from some notes I made whilst watching a video the other day. As much as the 'Guru's' get a bad rap, there are a few that are committed to giving value, as well as trying to hawk their products.

I'm a relatively new addition to this particular gentleman's (Ashley Parry) email list and apart from the normal sales pitch that arrives, there have a been a few 'helpful' videos with no promotions tagged on the end.

As you'd expect, I have elaborated on the main points but tried to keep it succinct (hahaha) at the same time. So, without further ado, let's get it on.

Commitment

This was numero uno on the list and that should come as no surprise. The question you have to ask yourself is, how bad do you really want it ? Heavily connected to your 'why', which, if you don't already, you should get into the habit of reminding your self of every day.

There's only one person that can do this and that's you. Be committed to taking action as and when it is required, even when it's the last thing you feel like doing.

Excuses

Everyone has busy lives, certainly every one I have met within this industry. That said, it shouldn't be an excuse. Time can sometimes feel elusive but I assure you, if you look hard enough, you'll find some.

We will always have a full plate, it's the nature of the beast. I think it's more a matter of getting your priorities right. If you want this bad enough, you'll find the time.

Discipline

Set yourself tasks for the day and get them done, not just today but every day. Not all of us are disciplined enough to do this and it's sometimes easy to get distracted. Before you know it, the day has gone and you're left with an unfulfilled list.

Get into the habit of setting daily goals, start with one and make sure you complete it, you can always add more.

Treat It Seriously-It's A Business

What's the saying ? 'If you treat your business like a hobby, it will pay you like a hobby. If you treat it like a business, it will pay you like a business.' There are other similar phrases but you get the idea.

You future is in your hands, if you're not that bothered, don't bother. If your 'why', which you are reminding yourself of every day, is strong enough, then you'll take this seriously.

Visualise

Where do you want to go with this ? Many don't 'get' visualising, they class it as esoteric mumbo jumbo. However, for those that do get it, it can be a powerful tool, especially when linked to your 'why'.

Picture where you want to be in the future, it doesn't just have to be materialistic, it can be health related and even emotionally. When you finally move from the grind to the life you want, how is that going to make you feel ?

Obviously, you can do all the material stuff as well, it all helps. Robin S. Sharma is quoted as saying โ€œEverything is created twice, first in the mind and then in reality.โ€ I do have one tip though, be specific, really get it nailed down.

Get Outside Of Your Comfort Zone

"If it doesn't feel uncomfortable, you're not doing enough" and that is a quote from Ashley, along with "Imperfect action is better than inaction" though the latter does sound familiar.

I am fairly certain that we all have a 'comfort zone', it's part of being human. It's the place where we feel safe and have control.

Well, if you want to make the transition from bystander to participant, then you're going to have to step outside of that place which is all warm and snuggley. Whatever it is that is holding you back is never as bad as you envisage in your mind.

I'm not talking about jumping out of planes or conquering your fear of spiders, though feel free to have a crack at those things, if you like. For you it could be making a video, recording a podcast, creating a course or maybe even writing a blog post.

I was surprised, though not sure why, to find that the following quote was from Mark Zuckerberg.

โ€œThe biggest risk is not taking any riskโ€ฆ In a world thatโ€™s changing really quickly, the
only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks.โ€

Ashley's parting words were. "Do everything talked about here and you'll succeed, I promise you"

That's your lot, my friends, something a little different for you on this wet and windy Friday morning. I do hope you're all having an incredible day and are looking forward to the weekend.

Before I go, one last thing. My last post, So, It's Official, This Is My 500th Post had an incredible response from all of you. It is the highest number of comments I've ever had and I wanted to thank you for making that possible. You really are magnificent.

Now I'm definitely going.

Hi Twack,

I totally agree with you. I have been very lazy and sometimes steping outside of my comfort zone. Very good text you wrote there. I got inspiration out of it and I am more motivated now and try to keep pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I have done it before but in short time period only. Before I tried to find fast making money possibilities, but it all failed.

Thank You Again For This Post, It Really Helps,
Elari

You are more than welcome Elari, glad it has helped you as it did me. It's not always easy to step outside of our comfort zones without a little push from behind.
I have also hit the 'follow' button, good to meet you.

Thank you, nice to meet you too :)

Twack,
This is a full time job and not a side hustle i mean if you have your sh** in place then ya. We need more inspiration from others to make us feel good and being motivated.

Great post to keep us in line and motivation it works better from others then myself why?

Cheers,
Mathew&Deloris;

Totally agree there, it's takes longer when you aren't able to put in the hours, that's for sure.
You are spot on as well, motivation from others seems to fire us up in a way that we are unable to do ourselves. Sometimes it's because what we see or read is more focused than what's going on in our minds, possibly?
Thank you both for coming by.๐Ÿ˜

Do you think that the thoughts that we perceive to be true and successful are really not?
An what others see is acheiveing to most. but to us it's another milestone to work.
Great post and hope to hear more and have great day.
Diligence is the word of the day, we have school.

Cheers,
Mathew&Deloris;

Yes, I think there may be something to that. Our minds cannot differentiate between fact or fiction, that's one of the reasons visualisation works so well, though we know oursleves whether they are true or false.
When we see or hear these statements from others (those whom we might trust in their judgement and authenticity) then we actually believe that what they are saying is true and are more likely to act upon it.
Who knows, sometimes we just need to 'have a word with ourselves' and just do stuff.
Diligence and discipline, the cornerstones of successfull 'anythings'.
Have a great day.

Great advice here Twack!
I am currently struggling with your final point about getting outside my comfort zone. I have been making screencast videos for a while and want to create some face to camera ones now. I have been playing with the setup for a few days now instead of just getting it done.
Time to grasp the nettle!

Hi Dave, thank you indeed. Diane just mentioned the same and I think it's one of the biggest things that can hold us back.
I have quite a few things that are just the other side of the fear barrier but I, like most of us, will get there.
My problem is that I love the writing aspect and it really works for me in regard to getting across what I want to say. Can I recreate that 'flow' with a microphone in front of me ? Not yet it would seem.
Came close last week but wasn't happy with the sound quality, lol. Chnaces are there will be another excuse until I just get it done.

A blue print for us to share, with ourselves, and the folks we come into contact with, thank you for your reflections, Twack.

WA can be a comfort zone, the thing that can drive us forward is the wonderful comunity that we share the journey motivating us to do our best.

The scales are tipped on our favor.
Alex

Thank you Alex and yes, I agree, our community can be the catalyst that ignites the fire inside us, we just need to make sure that we follow through.

Twack, I was reminded of this quote while reading your post:

"Anything the mind of man can conceive and believe, he can achieve."

Everything that you have shared is absolutely true and you are spot on when you talk about visualising.

That's the conceiving part where we should get into the nitty gritty details such as the colour of the walls in the room that we are sitting in as we watch the sun rise from our 1st floor bedroom deck that overlooks the Caribbean ocean.

The devil is in the details and if you miss them he finds you and reminds you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for a great post and congratulations on the success of your last post.

Cassi

Triple thanks Cassi (Why not, I'm feeling a little feisty this morning)
You are so right and this is something that many don't get, they are too broad. We need to be specific, like you say, down to the fine details.
My latest site is just a bare shell but in my head, it's already finished.
Hope you have a fantastic weekend.๐Ÿ˜

You are very welcome, Twack.
I really like your visioning.

I remember one of my Literature Teachers walking in one day and asking us:
"What does success smell like to you?"

We all laughed loudly and told him he had made a mistake.
He just stood there watching us and waited until the room was quiet.
And then he whispered:
"The Devil is going to get you."

That was his opening for a term of Shakespeare and tonnes of writing details. ๐Ÿ™‚

Dream on and continue to enjoy the journey.
Cassi

Looking back I wish I had been older when I was introduced to Shakespeare. I think we studied Julius Caesar and might have touched on Macbeth, though at sixteen much of the literary genius was lost on me.
Interestingly though, I devoured 1984 together with The Odyssey, The Iliad, The Aeneid and The Peloponnesian Wars. Those were entrancing pieces of work that allowed one to create incredible imagery as you read.

Julius Caesar is one of my favourites.

1984, The Iliad and The Odyssey should be compulsory reading during our rite of passage into adulthood.
I have not read Aeneid or The Peloponnesian Wars but do intend to.
Such great Literature!

Thank you for those reminders.
Cassi

You are more than welcome. Luckily for me 'Classics' was a subject we could study and it was taught by my housemaster who had the mind of a Greek philosopher and an intelligence to rival anything I have come across since. That said, he was also the master at prolonging the inquisition prior to passing sentence and delivering the punishment.
"Ow, thank you Sir, may I go now please"

You have been very blessed.

I am beginning to understand the foundations that have contributed to you being such a good writer. ๐Ÿ™‚

I appreciate your sharing, Twack.
Cassi

My pleasure and thank you. Not that I would ever say that about myself, if I had to look back and delve into the reasons behind how I write, I would put it down to the amount of books I have read (and maybe something in the genes handed down to me from my parents.)
From the age of about fourteen I became an avid reader and that has stayed with me throughout my life. Not so many novels nowadays, it's more likely to be 'content' in one form or another.

We are the hardest critics of ourselves, you know.

There is a comforting and engaging attraction with your writing.
You hook your audience and pull them in almost as though they are in a trance.
That, "can't stop until I reach the end" kind of experience.

Few ever attain that, Twack.
Trust me.

Have a great week!
Cassi

We are indeed and thank you Cassi, I really do appreciate your thoughts.

I must be like that annoying person that needs someone to slap them round the face yelling "Just do it, for goodness sake".

On this particular subject I will hold my hands up and say that I am majorly procrastinating.
Yes, there's a lot going on but there always will be. (Interjects with the line "I'm just waiting for the right time")

Actually, I had a thought pertaining to this quandry, earlier today, it's along the lines of adding a section to one of my sites where I could 'drip feed' a section at a time of a story.
That might act as a catalyst and could provide necessary feedback.
I shall ponder some more, you know, ruminate a while.๐Ÿ˜‰

Have an excellent week your self.

You see? There you go again.
I'm laughing with that opening as I see a Mutt and Jeff scenario with slaps being thrown around. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But seriously, you have a gift that you should invest more time with.
You would be kind of selfish not to as inspire so many of us.

I will keep pushing you along, for sure.
Cassi

I shall make strident efforts to think about it more, promise.

Now, that's the spirit! ๐Ÿ™‚
