200 Posts At WA
Though not a complete surprise, obviously, as I can see my post count, it has crept up on me somewhat. Yet today does mark 200 Posts at WA.
This particular milestone has come after nine months and one week, of being here at Wealthy affiliate. I thought it worth mentioning for two reasons, there are some more but these two would seem to be more poignant or maybe relevant is a better word.
I had notes ready and waiting for a post on goal setting and targets, which I will still do at a later stage, this was to be part of that post. A few weeks ago, towards the beginning of the month, I noticed that I was somewhere around the 175 mark for posts. I decided then, it would be a good exercise to see if I could get to the 200 by the end of October. It worked out to roughly a post a day. Doable.
Then something happened. Momentum. You may remember the post about building up a head of steam, that stemmed from this feeling that was manifesting. Here's the thing though, momentum is not just restricted to your one goal or desire, it rubs off in all areas that you allow it to. Just going with the flow took on a whole new meaning. October has been an incredible month.
Goals are important, they allow us to push ourselves to reach levels we might not have thought possible. There is a caveat though and it's important. They need to be realistic and fluid. Set them to high and they become self-defeating, set them too low and there is no challenge and no opportunity for growth.
The second reason I thought it important to 'Bang the Drum' about hitting 200 posts, is for those who are just starting out. For many newcomers, the thought of posting anything here is daunting, overwhelming and quite unnerving. Let's face it, the community we are a part of is vast and filled with longstanding members who have years of experience. The wealth of quality writers, technical or otherwise, is staggering and that is across the board as far as length of time here.
Here's the thing though. We were all at zero posts at one time. We all feared the reaction to our first post. We were all worried that no one would comment or if they did it would be critical or disparaging. Guess what ? That isn't what happened. We were all just welcomed in and congratulated. Encouraged to keep going. I have a quote that I've tweaked (It is mine, so I'm allowed) that maybe best underlines how many of us feel is the way to conduct ourselves when it comes to anothers work.
"Be not quick to judge, correct or admonish. Listen, understand and accept."
So, to all of you that are just starting out, as I was nine months ago. It is well within your capabilities to achieve great things here at WA. Whatever milestones you set, strive for and surpass, be mindful that there is a community here that will stand by your side, every step of the way.
As for me, I am truly, madly, deeply (awesome film by the way) thankful to all who have supported and encouraged me during my journey thus far. I would not be here now were it not for all of you, so thank you.
Last one from me and then I'm gone. Have an outstanding day.
"Imagine where you will be. To many never 'start' and if they do, at some point they stop. We all have a different path to our destinations but one thing is the same, if we stop we will never get there."
