So ...

YOAST comes with many awesome built-in tools and features ...

Here is a quick overview ...

  • SEO title and meta description on a per post basis
  • title and meta description support for categories, tags, etc
  • meta robots configuration (noindex, nofollow, etc)
  • breadcrumbs with configurable titles
  • advanced XML sitemaps
  • directly accessible .htaccess and robots.txt editor
  • RSS footer & header configuration options
  • native Google Webmaster Tools, Yahoo Site Explorer, and Bing Webmaster Tools verification
  • canonical support for archives, single posts and pages and the front page
  • focus keyword testing
  • import functionality from AIO SEO and SEO data transport functionality from various popular themes
  • Google search result snippet editor with live preview

And these are free features ... Needless to say, the Premium version comes with even more features ...

OK ...

Let's start with a speed test ...

Here are my results before installing the plugin ...

... and the result after installing and activating the plugin:

As you can see, this complex and literally vital plugin is almost invisible ....

With that having said, let's see how it works ...

Hi,
Loved your very informative lesson.
My question is do you need to deactivate the all in one SEO first before you install YOAST or does YOAST just overtake the all in one SEO?
Thanks Sue

You'll use YOAST instead of AIO SEO, so yes, you'll have to delete it ... But, if you don't want to configure YOAST and your already published content manually, you might want to import the AIO SEO settings into YOAST before you remove it.

Very informative tutorial. I haven't used YOAST but the features you have highlighted show it to be very user friendly and configurable to give excellent results. Definitely something I will take a closer look at. Thank you for posting.

So Zed, when you upload Yoast, what happens to the one that we already have? Does it just magically disappear? And how much does the premium version of Yoast cost?

I don't understand Teri ... What should disappear?

YOAST Premium is €79 for one site.
