Google.com has also created another branch of their research products called Google Insights. We cannot mention the Google Trends tool without also showing the power of the Google Insights tool.
What Google Insights provides is a "predictive" medium. This means that you can use the tool to predict where search trends are heading in the future and this can help you decide on whether or not a niche is for you, and also determine which keyword channels you want to prioritize within your marketing agenda.
Here is an example search that we did.
We choose "facebook marketing". Being in the industry, we know that the audience looking for this growing, but we can definitely verify this with a quick search. The expected growth is obvious and the up-trend is also very obvious. From this you can determine that this is a hot industry and will remain a hot industry. Google does base these results on graph trends (extrapolation of past values) which tends to be fairly accurate in terms of web search numbers.
Adding a Filter
You can also narrow down your searches for Geographic Targeting using the "Filter" and also base it on the year. This is more data that can be helpful if you are hyper-targeting audiences. The example below will reveal trends in Canada.
Google Insights is not 100% accurate, but it can reveal the predictive qualities of any niche and help you make more calculated research and campaign development decisions.
Prediction was non functioning.
I couldn't get too much from Google except something about not enough data so I am surmising that that meant the niche was to small? or not enough information, had been collected?
I asked the wrong questions.
Even so i was really impressed and now I feel confident to study all my little ideas.
I only need one good one.. right? .. and this will help me find it!
Thanks Paula
