Overdeliver by being helpful, detailed, and organized

Let's face it people, nobody likes a vague, uncertain, unclear answer.

Likewise, people on Quora are genuinely looking for help with what they ask for.

Let me show you some examples of how I've answered some of my questions:

Do you see how long this answer was? Crazy right?

Unfortunately, this is how you become the expert. You need to write lengthy responses that are well formatted. I added sub-headings in this response but you can also include numbered lists and bulleted lists.

I did that for this response here:

Now I know I've shared a bunch of screenshots here but the point is that you understand that writing content on Quora is much like writing content on your website.

It needs to be well formatted, lengthy, original, and easy to read.

To make it easy to read, I recommend not writing huge chunky paragraphs. Make sure to keep your paragraphs short. It's easier on the eyes. You can see that I've implemented that fairly well in my own answers in the screenshots.

Now I will warn you, it might get repetitive at times because you may find yourself answering similar questions a lot.

Here's a technique I recommend to tackle similar questions that you've answered before. Take a look at the screenshot below:

You see what I've done here is backlinked my own response to a similar question so that anybody who has seen the current response I'm giving can go over and see my other one.

This is important in exposing yourself as more of the expert in your area/niche. Overtime, people will see you as the go-to person to ask questions for. It'll result in more people asking for your answers.

Where to find questions to answer

Speaking of answers, I never showed you what it's like to click on the "Answer" button next to the 'Notification' button on the top right of Quora. Well here you go:

When you click on the red-highlighted "Answer" button, you'll be redirected here. This is where you can find potential questions you can answer. To the left, you'll notice that I've got some answer requests.

You can also find some suggested questions on the right hand side of the screen:

Do remember that some of these requests aren't necessarily about topics you even know about. Some people just randomly ask whoever is suggested to them for an answer.

It's possible for you to politely decline their requests with no repercussions on your end.

Ok that wraps up this section. In the next section I'm going to give you some final pieces of advice as to WHICH questions you should be targeting and how to know which questions are good ones.

Wow Rhys, Thank YOU for this. Have now started my own account following your instructions one at a time.

Questions: You suggest the following ...
"The best questions to answer are those with 1000+ views and that is less than 3 months old. Those are the questions you need to search for on Quora."

1.) If the question was answered over 3 months ago, why would anyone be interested in MY response to the question now?

2.) How do I go about finding those older questions?

3.) Are we allowed to use a YouTube hosted video as our answer to a question? Sometimes showing is sooo much easier than trying to explain.

Guess I need a little practice in order to master this. However, this site looks to be "right up my alley" as I really DO enjoy offer help to others.

Hey Triblu,

Very good questions. I'll answer them one by one:

1)

The thing I've discovered about 3 months old questions WITH lots of views is that it's currently very popular. Sort of like a 'trending' question.

I'm not sure of the process exactly but every time I answer such questions, I end up with at least 100 views the next day.

I can only assume that since the question has so many views, despite it's age, it's a question that a lot of people are keeping their eyes on which, in my experience, is why they're the best ones to answer.

2)

A lot of the time you'll find them in the 'related questions' part of Quora.

Alternatively, if you go to the "Answer" part of Quora and take a look under the "Suggested Questions", there's usually a few of them there.

There are hundreds of questions on Quora and even more being asked all the time. I've never had trouble finding questions related to my niche there.

3)

ABSOLUTELY you can. All you have to do is add the Youtube URL when you want to add a link and it'll automatically embed your video.

I think videos are an excellent way of answering. To the asker, it's a lot easier since they don't need to do all the reading.

I hope I've answered your questions sufficiently. Happy answering! :)
