With these next set of questions you should consider when crafting your content, it is important that you adhere to the EAT guidelines as best as you can. Choosing a niche you are passionate about helps. What does EAT stand for? Expertise, Authoritativeness & Trustworthiness.
I am not going to get deep into the various ways of what EAT is and how to implement it in this tutorial. Perhaps I will do another tutorial or blog about it later. However when you choose a niche you are either passionate about or willing to fully research, EAT can be achieved.
EXPERTISE IN YOUR NICHE
- Does the content present information in a way that makes you want to trust it, such as clear sourcing, evidence of the expertise involved, background about the author or the site that publishes it, such as through links to an author page or a site’s About page?
- If you researched the site producing the content, would you come away with an impression that it is well-trusted or widely recognized as an authority on its topic?
- Is this content written by an expert or enthusiast who demonstrably knows the topic well?
- Is the content free from easily-verified factual errors?
- Would you feel comfortable trusting this content for issues relating to your money or your life?
When I see new members asking if they should start with Bootcamp or Online Entrepreneur Certification (OEC) courses, I always tell them it is better for them to find a niche they know something about. It will be easier to convince your website reader if you know your niche.
You must be able to sound convincing in the content you are creating. Copying a style or format will not cut it because it does not achieve a level of either expertise or enthusiast. Remember what the previous page says. Content quality should provide additional value and originality.
One more important thing. Notice the first question above mentions a link through to the About page. Not only is an About page vital to establish trustworthiness by giving you the chance to explain why you are sharing your chosen information, but it also builds authority over time.
NEXT UP = Is your content free from errors & comparative to other sites?
Just one thing, though: If a website's rankings fall, doesn't it follow that another site's ranking will rise?
Maybe these updates are actually helpful to those of us who publish quality, useful articles.
