OK, you've seen all of the options apart from linking a picture, which isn't really pertinent to the discussion; a picture is a picture is a picture, so there's nothing to do to change it. It's nice to make sure that something sensible comes up when a reader accidentally runs his mouse over it so ensure the Alt Tags are filled in just as we spoke about on the previous page with titles.
Some of you know that I write web content (among other stuff) and over the years I've seem many, many websites, written in the main by the business owners. Dry, factual blocks of text. They read like Wikipedia entries.
Everything I've said about the way you link relates directly back to the way you write. If you write to engage the reader then the integrated links, particularly option 3, the last one, work every time. When you write pages for your website, ask your friends beforehand exactly what they want to find out. Interview them and record their answers with your phone voice recorder. Don't write anything down on paper.
The reason for this is simple: if a friend says "I'd love to know what sort of after-sales service you offer?" and you've written down "after sales" (and you will) then although you will have a reminder for your writing it may be useless for you FAQ section. FAQ's are very readable if it sounds like a real person is asking the question. So this particular question will read thus:
Q. "I'd love to know what sort of after-sales service you offer?"
A. Our after sales service is cr*p. (you may come up with a better answer). Better still would be,
A. Our after sales service is cr*p. (note the link to your after sales testimonials and policy).
I hope this helps
Paul
It hasn't received the recognition it deserves to be honest, in my opinion.
There is a lot of enormously useful information in there which could vastly improve clicks and conversions if used correctly. It is the finer points like this that can be the difference between making a little extra cash or running a hugely successful online presence.
But the most important thing to recognise is that just by making the improvements Paul discusses you are certain to improve your conversion rate, which after all is THE key to a successful IM future.
