So I hope you have learned a little something about keywords that you either did not know or perhaps forgot about. It is the intention of this training tutorial to dispel many of the false information about keywords that are still floating around out on the internet.
KEYWORD FACT VS FICTION
KEYWORD FACT:
Keywords need to be placed as early, if not first, within the title of your page or post name in order to be in the URL.
FICTION:
Keywords can be anywhere in the title and still be just as effective when it comes to rankings.
KEYWORD FACT:
You do NOT need to target a keyword on any given page or post to get it to rank in the search engines. Watch the first 4:49 of Kyle’s training video in Boot Camp Phase 2 Lesson 3 at the below link for proof.

FICTION:
Every page or post must have a target keyword in order to rank in the search engines.
KEYWORD FACT:
There is no such thing as Keyword Density anymore. As long as your keyword appear in the appropriate areas you will be fine.
FICTION:
Your website page or post needs a keyword density of 4% to 7% or more to get high Google rankings.
KEYWORD FACT:
You do not want to put your keywords into the keywords Meta tag under the WordPress editor. You will gain no SEO benefit and Google may see it as you trying to influence your rankings. None of the search engines use the keyword Meta tag anymore. For proof watch the Google video of Matt Cutts I have in my training at the link below.

FICTION:
If I put keywords in the keyword Meta tag, I will maybe get better rankings.
I hope the information I have provided here has given you some more insight into keywords and will help you not to stress out over them so much. You absolutely DO NOT need to target a keyword for every single page and post of your website.
On the pages and posts where you do use keywords just place them in the title as close to the beginning as possible, again within the first 140 character spaces of your content if possible or anywhere within the first paragraph, and then one more time near the end of your content, preferably in a heading tag.

I've removed all instances of keywords in the SEO keywords meta tag field for pages and posts on my site. Will doing so automatically update the XML sitemap and/or will Google re-index my pages next time the bot visits? Or is it a good idea to manually do a fetch as Google in Webmaster tools for my home page and all pages linked to it?
Thanks
Neil
