Pingbacks aren't necessarily intentional
The fact that pingbacks are automatic leads to the realization then, that pingbacks can also be sent unknowingly by website owners who are not, in fact, spammers but just happen to have pingbacks and trackbacks enabled in their blog settings.
They could be useful, but
We've also seen that trackbacks and even pingbacks do have their uses and benefits. The question is, do the benefits outweigh the annoyance caused by Wordpress spam comments or vice versa.
That's a deliberation that i guess each website owner or administrator has to make for themselves, but in my case, i chose to get rid of them because there were just too many appearing in my comments. If you share similar feelings then read on. In a minute i will show you how to disable pingbacks and trackbacks on your existing posts as well as how to change the settings so that all of your new posts will be free from this in the future.
So, let's get started.
How to stop Pingbacks on Wordpress existing posts
You need to be logged into your Wordpress Admin dashboard to get this done. So please do that now. Once you're in we can move on to Step 1 below.
Step 1
Now that you're logged in to the admin dashboard please click on Posts on the left of the page. Then on All Posts. Finally, click on Screen Options on the extreme right of the page.
See the illustration on the image below.
Step 2
Change the Number of Items Per Page that's displayed in the Screen Options window to the actual number of posts that you have on the website, and click on Apply. This will allow Wordpress to list all your posts on this one page here in the Admin dashboard.
You can set it to display up to 999 posts on the one page.
So if you're a super blogger with over 999 posts the additional ones will be seen to appear on page 2. If that's your situation. I mean having over 999 posts then after you finish the other steps in this tutorial you would need to go to your page 2 and do the process over again for that page. Starting from this one (step 2)
See image for step 2 below
Hit Next Page below to move on to page 3 and finish stopping pingbacks on existing Wordpress pages...
This was so easy to follow and hopefully I will have no more problems with these issues.
Your training was nice and clear and easy to follow.
