The program I'm going to be using to reduce the size of my images is the Windows paint as everybody with a Window PC has access to.
There are many other programs available to do this. I will be going through one more in this tutorial.

So,open the Windows Paint and then click on Files --> Open.
Choose the image you want to resize.

Then go to Home --> Resize. A small box will open. Choose Pixels and enter the desirable pixels in the inputs. Click on OK .

Once you have reduced the size of your image and saved it, it's not possible to bring it to it's first state again preserving the quality that it had before the reduction.
That's why I always use Save as that enables me to create a new image-file when saving it. In this case I keep the original in case I do a mistake (for example reduce the image too much) and I want to start over.
So keeping the originals is always a good idea.

So, after clicking on Saved as a small window will open. Give your image a new name, click on Save and you're done :)

Your image is now ready to be uploaded to the Media Library of your website and be used :)

Before showing you how to upload it to your Media Library, I'm going to show you how to do the same thing we just did with another program that is free to download, the Photo Filtre Studio. The reason is mainly to introduce you to a program that has more editing options than Windows paint.

Nice job, Athanasia!

It's a bummer that you can't just load all your originals into the media library and have to spend time changing them all! With the cameras these days, the pixels are so large that I have to modify every single photo! The program I use is Windows Picture Manager. It's a good one, too :)

Thanks for the lesson. It's great to know this stuff!

Hell o Ashley :)

You're very welcome!

I modify all my pictures too before uploading them. The worse though was when I went through all my posts and pages to change them lol

Thank you for recommending one more program. It's very useful for the beginners. :)
