More Tips for a Site Audit
- Meta Tags - Both page titles and descriptions are essential elements of your on-page SEO. Titles are not the only ranking factor. You can use descriptions to entice users and engage them once they have visited the site.
- On-page SEO - Google may see duplicate pages or empty pages if there are issues with HTML. Your entire site will be penalized if you have too many of these pages.
- HTTP status - Search engines cannot crawl pages that aren't loading or crawl sites on servers that don't respond. These pages disrupt your site's link juice and cause users to have a poor experience. HTTP status will reveal any hidden problems with redirects (broken links, 404 pages, or Toxic links).
- Non-indexable URLs - You can crawl your site to find URLs that your robots.txt and Meta robots tags do not allow. Incorrect Meta robot tags often cause Non-indexable pages.
- Canonical issues - Canonical URLs refer to the "main" URLs. You could run into problems if your canonical tags are not correct.
Once you have completed your site crawl and fixed any issues, you can start to implement more traditional SEO elements in your campaign, such as your content.
