Step 3: Audit Your Website
Once you have completed your keyword research, personas, and goals, it is time to audit your website.
Technical Site Audit
Technical SEO refers to making your website search engine-friendly. Search engines won't index your site if you don't do it correctly. Simply put, search engines won't find you in the results.
You want to ensure that you set up your website correctly before you launch an SEO campaign. You should check these elements when you audit your website:
- XML Sitemap -Search engines use the sitemap of your website to prioritize URLs. That is an important SEO function.
- Txt - These text files can influence how your site crawls. Search engines will not index duplicate pages or pages of low value. That allows search engines to focus their crawl budgets on essential pages.
- Page speed -Load times are super important for user experience and SEO. Search engines won't recommend slow sites. Many factors could slow down your site, so it is essential to do an SEO audit to identify them.
- URL Structure -URLs must be clear, concise, and relevant to their content. To separate words, avoid using underscores in URLs. Because search engine bots can recognize them, hyphens are preferable.
