These are only a few key things you can do in gaining new followers on your brand new social media accounts. Some tips offered here may even help those with well-established social media accounts too.

Making sure your website makes it easy for your website visitors to share your posted information easily on the most popular social media accounts is highly recommended. Some bloggers have had great success adding a “Tweet This” type of text link offered in one line (below the fold) within their posts. When a visitor clicks on that link, their tweet and link to your post, is loaded and ready for them. All they have to do is log into Twitter and click the “Tweet” button.

Let’s Starting with Twitter

  • Write your Twitter bio to attract the type of follower you want to gain. Make sure you sound professional and that it represents your business the way you want it to.
  • Add YOUR image to your profile. Real human followers do not want to follow a faceless brand.
  • Make sure your location (at the least, province/state and country) is stated in your profile. This tip alone will gain you LOTS of followers looking to follow others in a specific location.
  • Keep your tweets non-political and/or non-religious based. Sharing upbeat, positive and helpful information will gain you more quality followers.
  • Include pictures that grab attention to your tweets. I have learned that tweets with images receive 18% more engagement than those without.
  • Include relevant links where possible, as tweets with links get more retweets than those without.
  • Always thank your followers for retweeting your tweets. I go directly to the follower’s profile page and find where the follower RT’d my tweet and thank them from beneath the RT. This way, my original tweet is displayed again, potentially gaining me more followers... and clicks!
  • Use hashtags sparingly and make sure they are relevant, as this will help attract new followers who are searching for those keywords.
  • Respond to other’s tweets may gain their follower’s attention, so be sure to respond in a positive way.
  • Help other Twitter users whenever possible as this tip alone will help you become known for putting other’s needs first.
  • Retweeting and liking other’s awesome tweets (and follow them if you are not already following them).
  • Mention influential uses whenever it is relevant to do so. This may help gain their attention and get them to follow you back... maybe even retweet your content.
  • Make sure your website displays your Twitter account link.
  • Once you have a few followers, check to see who are following your followers, and pick through to follow their followers.
  • Be sure to remove any followers that do not follow you back in a timely manner, as Twitter limits the number of followers in new accounts.

Trish, this training is absolutely a treasure for me. Social media is still new territory to me. I have joined Google Plus, but have not got accustomed to it yet. The other week I joined Facebook, thanks to Bo Tipton I understand how it works a little bit.

I have bookmarked your training and I am going to study it thouroughly.

Trish, could it be that there was a glitch in the WA system and the training was not sent as a notification?

This training must go viral!!

Hey Pernilla,

There definitely is a glitch in the new layout... one that is effecting comments, blog posts, questions and training... and, Carson is busy working on resolving these issues.

Glad you enjoyed the tutorial.
