Bearing in mind compressing images as above is only for those who wish to create a new page or post within SiteContent.

So any old images you may already have on your website you would either need to have a plugin or better plugin within your WordPress site that will help to compress images.

Better still; compress your images before you add them to your media file library within WordPress.

You can also use this tool to compress any images you may already have relating for your website as well as if you are creating new content add them then and hopefully when you hit publish WA compression tools might even add a tad more compression.

You never know every bit helps.

So here is just one way you can compress images using TinyPNG Compression Tool not as a plugin but outside of your WordPress site or any other website you may have elsewhere.

So what are my options?

These options relate to using images outside of using SiteContent especially if you are not a Premium member then you might need to either upgrade your membership or find another way to compress your images.

  • You may want to reduce images before you add them to your website without the use of a plugin.
  • You can also reduce images before using SiteContent for a new page or post and the compression tool within WA could be able to reduce them just a bit more.
  • You may be in need of changing any images you may already have in old pages and/or posts. Remember SiteContent is for creating new pages/ posts not for the ones already created.
  • You may have a need to compress some images that may or may not relate to your website but want to send elsewhere say via social media.
  • There are times you wish to send an image to a friend or family members but the image is far too large and cannot be sent. This compression tool can help you with your images by reducing them to the point is will easily be small enough without losing any quality of the image itself.

So you can see there can be many reasons and perhaps more where having this compression tool can benefit you and not just for your website.

This tool as stated in the title is called Tiny Smart PNG and JPG Compression tool

Now as for your website you can also find this Tiny Compression tool as a plugin but you need an API key to register which is not a big problem.

The actual name of the plugin is Compress Jpeg & PNG Images and the other one which is mentioned further is called Smart PNG and JPEG Compression so I will just call both Tiny Compression tool in the general sense.

Here is what the Plugin looks like if you wish to add and install this into your website.

It will give 71 images to be compressed for free each month. Any more you would need to pay for the service.

So unless you are adding more than 71 images a month then as a plugin this is great one to use.

Other options with this Compression Tool

Disclaimer:

I have no affiliate links with this plugin nor do I gain any financial benefits from the one found on their website.

This is just to help any Fellow Wealthy Affiliate members looking for options that can be of benefit to them.

The link on their website is below.

https://tinypng.com/

They have other functions but for this training we will only deal with compressing images.

This is what it looks like when you go to their website.

There are some differences with the plugin version and the one above.

As stated before the plugin will give you up to 71 free images per month to compress it is a great tool to use but also note that it just adds to number of plugins you may have on your website.

Also remember it is not necessary the number of plugins you may have on your website it is more the way the plugins with bad coding that could cause issues either with your theme chosen or with other plugins.

The website version has a total limit 25MB should you use all the images at once which is 20.

Guess what?

Once you use the 20 images and down load them to your computer which I will show you soon all you have to do is refresh your browser and you can download another 20 images and keep doing this each time.

You can pay for the service to get unlimited use of image compression just like the plugin version but why pay for it when you can do the same for free just with a smaller load each time you use it.

That is your choice to make.

Nice article apache1, thank you! I am under the impression that to compress site images that I have to do this one at a time and re-upload, so I have not done it even though Google says I need to. All my Google speed buttons are yellow.

Looks like Carson's Blog says this is now resolved with the new automatic image compression software, yes! :) So my buttons should be turning GREEN soon!

Hi Monique

Thanks for the comment and visit much appreciated.

As the lesson explains you can compress up to 20 images in one hit as long as they don't exceed 25MB which is all explained in the training above.

This will enable you to download it to your computer.

Once done if you are downloading to your websites media library you can download them either one at a time if you wish or click and highlight a few from your computer to the media library on your website and it can download them.

All is explained in the training above.

As for you having yellow for your speed you still need to click the refresh button which I explained in the above lesson.

The first step is to ensure that you have the Site speed is turned on.

Go to SiteRubix the SiteManager then details bottom right. just like in the lesson above.

Ensure that all three which are Site speed, Site SSL and Site Protect are all turned on and green.

That is the first part which has nothing to do with images but can help increase your speed as well.

Then scroll down and you will see all your pages and post showing the colour if they are green then that is fine as far as WA is concerned but you should also hit the refresh button as this will update your new results with Google's insights.

Once you have clicked the refresh button then hit that Big G to your right which will take you to Google's speed insights and you will find that you should have the same colour as in WA.

All this is explained above.

Now if your score is still low and yellow they will give you further insights on where you can improve to increase your scores.

As I stated in the training this is only about images but there can be other factors which can keep your speed lower.

Hope this all helps.

You're training is fine. Something else is strange . . .

1. Site speed is on
2. I am only using images
3. I have refreshed several times, still yellow buttons
4. Big G analysis says all is optimized except for WA affiliate links and compressed images?

Hmmmmmm
