You will need an Amazon.com (US) associates account to get stared, as the initial set up will be done there.
To set up OneLink, you will need an Amazon.com Associates account. The Amazon.com Associates account is where you will do your initial setup for OneLink; to apply for an Amazon.com Associates account, visit the following link: associates-program.amazon.com.
You will also need an Amazon.co.uk Associates account, or Amazon.ca for Canada. To sign up for Amazon.co.uk, click here: https://affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk
Get logged into your US Amazon Associates account.
As of right now, you will see "new: launching one link" at the top right under your store ID.
Please excuse the sloppy arrows during this tutorial. For the sake of time, I'm just using my snipping tool! :)
Go ahead and click on that and you will be taken to the getting started/introduction to Amazon One Link Page.
Click the Link your accounts link and you will see the page below.
Select which geography you want to link to your US store ID. You will go through the linking and verification process separately for each region.
If you do not already have a UK or Canada store, this is where you will be prompted to create a new account for each region you wish to link.
We won't go through that process here. It's basically filling in some info concerning your site. It' similar to when you created your US store.
Click on a geography and you will see the page below.
Copy your new store ID for the region you are linking and paste it into the box, then go ahead and click the link store button.
At this point, you will see a four digit verification number. Amazon is going to request your phone number.
When the Amazon robot calls, it will ask you to enter the 4 digit number.
Enter the 4 digit number in your phone.
If all goes well, you will see your status change to a green "verified."
Next up, we will tackle the scary part...Inserting the code. :)
But, I have one question for you. In the past Amazon had a plugin which redirected visitors to the Amazon site of their country to a same or similar item. The problem was if they went ahead making a purchase, you wouldn't get commission.
Do you get commission for sales in countries you are 'one linked' to?
Thank you
Giulia
canceled some time ago so have to apply again.
One question - does it work both ways? For example, if I put a UK link in will it redirect to the US site if a reader is in the US? Or should I always use the US link and it will redirect?
This is GREAT news ... Thank YOU!
Shuckers ... I just logged into Amazon but "Launching OneLink" states the following:
"Please link your store and get it validated before mapping individual tracking IDs"
so we need a store before we can use the individual tracking OneLink option, by the sound of this. Now I have to get going adding my store ... huh.
This is truly GREAT news for all Amazon affiliates!
